The HR Generalist coordinates and carries out the daily operations of the Human Resources department and serves as a key resource for employees, supervisors, faculty, staff, and student workers across the College. This position is responsible for a broad range of Human Resources functions including HR operations, employee records management, HRIS administration, onboarding, payroll coordination, benefits administration, recruitment activities, and employee services.
This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional with broad operational HR experience who enjoys managing HR processes, maintaining accurate records and systems, supporting employees, and contributing to a collaborative higher education environment. The position offers broad exposure to core Human Resources functions and provides an excellent opportunity for continued professional growth and development within HR.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
(including but are not limited to)
HR Operations, Employee Records, and HRIS Administration
Maintain accurate employee information and personnel records within the HRIS system and employee files, ensuring data integrity, organization, and confidentiality
Assist with HR compliance activities, audits, and required reporting.
Process and maintain employee transactions including new hires, compensation changes, transfers, promotions, status updates, leaves, and terminations
Manage day-to-day HRIS administration and assist employees and supervisors with HRIS access, navigation, and troubleshooting
Perform regular audits of employee records and HR data to ensure accuracy and compliance
Generate routine HR, payroll, and employee data reports as requested
Support document management and record retention practices in accordance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements
Assist with HR compliance activities, audits, and reporting requirements
Ensure HR processes align with federal and state employment regulations.
Policy Interpretation and Employee Relations
Serve as a point of contact for employees and supervisors regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment practices.
Provide guidance on routine employee relations matters and refer complex issues to the Director of Human Resources.
Assist in ensuring consistent and fair application of policies across departments.
Payroll, Benefits, and Employee Support
Coordinate payroll-related changes to support timely and accurate payroll processing
Assist employees with payroll, benefits, PTO, and HR-related questions and help resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
Support benefits enrollment activities, qualifying life events, and general benefits administration
Coordinate with payroll, benefits vendors, and internal departments as needed
Serve as a helpful point of contact for day-to-day employee support and HR operational needs
Recruitment and Onboarding
Support recruitment and hiring activities in partnership with hiring managers and the HR team
Coordinate onboarding processes including employment documentation, background checks, HRIS entry, and new hire orientation
Ensure completion and accuracy of required hiring paperwork and employee documentation
Assist faculty, staff, and student employees with onboarding and employment-related questions
Help create a welcoming and positive onboarding experience for new employees
HR Administration and Projects
Provide guidance regarding HR procedures and escalate more complex matters as appropriate
Support HR projects, communications, training initiatives, and process improvement efforts
Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and process improvement
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Human Resources function
Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience in a generalist or in a broad Human Resources role with exposure to multiple HR disciplines
Experience supporting multiple HR functions such as onboarding, employee support, HRIS administration, payroll coordination, benefits administration, employee records management, and recruitment activities
Experience with HRIS systems required; Paycom experience strongly preferred
Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or similar mission-driven environments preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of core HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, payroll processes, HRIS administration, and policy interpretation.
Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook, and Teams
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage confidential information and employee records with professionalism and discretion
Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing operational needs in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to work across a variety of HR functions with initiative, flexibility, and sound judgment
Comfort working with HR systems, payroll processes, employee databases, and HR technologies
Demonstrated initiative, dependability, and follow-through on assignments
Ability to work collaboratively and build positive working relationships across departments
Interest in continued professional growth and development within Human Resources
This position operates in a professional office environment within a higher education setting and requires regular interaction with faculty, staff, and campus leadership.
The role requires extended periods of desk work, computer use, repetitive keyboarding, and frequent communication with employees and supervisors
