Job Summary:
The Human Resources Manager will oversee all aspects of HR operations at our poultry processing plant, ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies, managing staffing needs, driving employee engagement, and supporting a safe, productive, and legally compliant work environment. This role is pivotal in managing a diverse workforce and supporting a 24/7 operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Staffing
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for plant positions, including line workers, maintenance, sanitation, QA, and supervisory roles.
- Partner with staffing agencies for temporary labor needs.
- Oversee onboarding and orientation for new hires to ensure seamless integration.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee concerns, complaints, and conflict resolution.
- Foster a positive, respectful workplace culture.
- Conduct workplace investigations and resolve employee issues fairly and timely.
Compliance & Policy Administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FLSA, OSHA, EEOC, FMLA, ADA, etc.).
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
- Manage E-Verify and other hiring compliance programs.
- Support food safety and USDA compliance from an HR perspective.
Training & Development
- Coordinate training programs including safety, food handling, harassment prevention, and job-specific training.
- Support development plans for frontline leaders and supervisors.
Performance Management
- Guide supervisors in performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and corrective action processes.
- Track attendance and assist in enforcing plant attendance and tardiness policies.
Health, Safety & Workers’ Compensation
- Partner with Safety Manager to promote a safe work environment.
- Coordinate with third-party providers and insurance carriers for workers’ comp claims.
- Track injury trends and implement corrective actions as needed.
Payroll & Benefits Support
- Collaborate with payroll/benefits departments to ensure accurate timekeeping and benefits enrollment.
- Answer employee questions about pay, time-off, and benefits.
HR Metrics & Reporting
- Maintain HR dashboards: turnover, hiring, absenteeism, headcount, etc.
- Provide reports to plant and corporate leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field (required).
- 5+ years of HR generalist/manager experience in manufacturing, food processing, or similar industry (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish (preferred).
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced poultry processing plant environment.
- May require occasional evening or weekend work to support multiple shifts.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
