Overview: The HR Manager plays a key role in the daily operations and strategic initiatives of the Human Resources department. This position supports employee relations, benefits administration, talent management, and workers’ compensation in collaboration with other departments. The HR Manager ensures legal compliance, implements effective HR policies, and fosters a positive, productive workplace culture aligned with organizational goals.
Key responsibilities:
Employee relations & engagement:
o Act as the primary contact for employee inquiries regarding HR policies, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns.
o Conduct investigations related to employee relations issues, recommend disciplinary actions, and facilitate corrective measures when needed.
o Complete unemployment claims and respond to union grievances in coordination with management and legal counsel to ensure timely and compliant resolution.
o Support initiatives that foster employee engagement, satisfaction, and a positive organizational culture.
Benefits & compensation:
o Administer comprehensive benefits programs, including open enrollment, COBRA, FMLA, STD/LTD, and other applicable leave requests.
o Assist employees in understanding their benefits options and resolving benefits-related issues.
o Oversee employee transfers and manage the verification of employment while coordinating with payroll for salary verifications.
o Ensure compliance with benefit-related reporting requirements, including ACA, COBRA, and state-mandated leave documentation.
Performance & talent management:
o Support performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback collection, and career development planning.
o Develop and implement strategies for talent management to drive employee growth and succession planning.
o Propose improvements to talent management practices that align with the organization’s mission and growth objectives.
Workers' compensation & risk management:
o Manage the entire workers' compensation process, from claims initiation to resolution, ensuring timely and efficient handling.
o Serve as liaison between employees, supervisors, and insurance representatives to ensure accurate and timely processing of claims and medical documentation.
o Coordinate with claims adjusters to expedite claims, minimize risk, and inform HR leadership of active claims.
o Maintain updated workers' compensation files and track the progress of ongoing cases.
HR data management & reporting:
o Ensure data accuracy by maintaining up-to-date employee records and HR data in the organization's HR information system (HRIS).
o Generate reports on key HR metrics, such as turnover rates, recruitment efficiency, and compliance audit findings, to guide decision-making.
o Use HR analytics to identify trends, make data-driven decisions, and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
Continuous improvement & special projects:
o Lead initiatives to enhance HR processes and implement innovative solutions that improve departmental efficiency.
