Position Summary/Objective: The HR Specialist, focused on Talent Acquisition, is responsible for full cycle recruiting and proactive sourcing across the Timberwolves, Lynx, and Iowa Wolves business operations. This role partners closely with hiring managers to attract, assess, and hire diverse, high quality talent while delivering a strong candidate experience. The ideal candidate brings a consultative mindset, strong sourcing skills, and the ability to manage multiple requisitions in a fast paced environment. This role may also support employee engagement and inclusion initiatives such as employee belonging groups.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage full cycle recruiting for business operations roles, including intake meetings, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, and offer support for both full and part-time positions.
  • Develop and execute creative sourcing strategies to build diverse and qualified candidate pipelines.
  • Proactively source candidates through LinkedIn, job boards, networking, referrals, and outreach efforts.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand role requirements and recommend sourcing and selection strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely requisition activity within the HRIS (Dayforce), including job postings and candidate communications.
  • Deliver a high touch, inclusive candidate experience throughout the recruitment lifecycle.
  • Conduct phone screens, informational interviews, and in-person interviews to assess candidate qualifications and fit.
  • Assist with coordination of employee engagement and belonging initiatives, serving as an HR point of contact to support alignment, consistency, and follow through.
  • Coordinate the recruitment, programming, and engagement of HBCU interns.
  • Support the HR onboarding process by initiating background checks, IT and HR onboarding requests following acceptance.
  • Attend career fairs, networking events, and mass hiring events as needed.
  • Participate in employee engagement initiatives and events in partnership with the HR team, as needed.
  • Share recruiting best practices, sourcing insights, and pipeline data with the broader HR team.
  • Compile and track recruiting metrics to support hiring progress and continuous improvement.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other:
  • Strong relationship building and communication skills with candidates and hiring leaders
  • Ability to manage multiple requisitions and priorities simultaneously
  • Proactive and solutions oriented approach to sourcing and recruiting challenges
  • Comfortable working with confidential and sensitive information
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Customer focused mindset with a collaborative, team oriented approach
  • Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems and LinkedIn Recruiter or similar tools
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Additional information:
Experience: 2-3 years of recruitment experience, corporate recruiting experience ideal

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Supervisory Responsibility, if any: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Travel: This position does not travel.

Benefits & Compensation
  • Compensation: The base salary range for this non-exempt role will be: $60,000-$70,000 depending on experience. There are opportunities for an annual corporate bonus. Total compensation & offer package will include the following:
  • Benefits: Regular full-time employees have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, health saving accounts with an employer contribution, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, and life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance. Additional benefits may include employer-paid short/long-term disability plans, generous fitness and well-being benefits, work-related reimbursements, and fully paid family/caregiver leave. Regular full-time employees start with 11 Holidays, at least 20 paid PTO days, 2 Volunteer days, and 4 Personal Holidays in each calendar year.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. Office hours are typically Monday-Friday from 8:30AM-5:30PM. In addition to working office hours staff may be required to work Timberwolves and Lynx home games, member events and meetings, and networking events. Work is generally sedentary in nature. The working environment is generally favorable. Work is generally performed within an office environment with standard office equipment available. This job also operates in a sports arena which includes bleachers/steps as well as moderate to high levels of noise.

Physical Demands
​​​​The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information with others both in person and over the telephone. The employee frequently is required to remain in a stationary position, as well as operate computers and other office equipment, such as a copy machine, printer and telephone. Staff will frequently ascend and descend bleachers/steps and traverse around the arena both on event days and non-event days. Staff may occasionally move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
