HVAC Product Specialist

A growing, privately held HVAC/R organization is looking to add a Technical Product Specialist to support product development, compliance, and technical operations across its North American business.


This role blends hands-on product knowledge with cross-functional collaboration, working closely with internal teams and international partners to ensure product quality, performance, and market alignment.



Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate new and existing HVAC/R products for compliance, performance, and market fit

• Build deep technical knowledge across product lines including ductless, inverter systems, components, and tools

• Collaborate with international teams to define and maintain product specifications

• Support quality control initiatives including product testing and inspection processes

• Provide technical support to internal teams and customers as needed

• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and product documentation

• Maintain records of certifications, testing, and compliance documentation

• Assist with development of technical bulletins, installation guides, and troubleshooting resources

• Monitor industry regulations and standards impacting HVAC/R products

• Support product development and roadmap planning with technical input

• Work with sales and marketing teams to build technical training and tools

• Assist with supplier quality issues and root cause analysis

• Participate in occasional travel to suppliers, trade shows, or branch locations


Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in the HVAC/R industry

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in HVAC/R, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred

• Strong understanding of refrigeration systems and HVAC equipment

• Experience reading technical drawings and product specifications

• Strong communication skills, including working with international teams

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ERP or PLM experience is a plus


Preferred Experience

• Experience working with overseas manufacturers or suppliers

• Familiarity with inverter-driven or variable-speed systems

• Knowledge of UL, ETL, AHRI, or DOE standards

• Background in product development or quality control

• Exposure to wholesale distribution or private label programs
