HVAC Service Technician - Residential

Job summary:
The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential HVAC systems. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail to ensure that systems operate efficiently and effectively. The technician will interact with homeowners to explain issues and solutions, ensuring customer satisfaction. Minimum of 5 years of experience.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues in residential settings including furnaces and boilers, including work on boilers and rooftop units.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Install new HVAC systems and components, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Brazing skills, compressor replacement experience, and experience with installing thermostats.
  • Educate and advise homeowners on energy efficiency and system upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed, including assessments, repairs, and installations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay updated on the latest HVAC technologies and industry trends.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED; technical school training in HVAC preferred; college degree a plus.
  • EPA 608 (Type II) certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential HVAC repair and installation.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, tools, and equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record; ability to meet driving requirements for company vehicle.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Physical Demands and Cognitive Requirements:
  • Physically capable of performing tasks requiring lifting 50+ pounds, standing, and bending.
  • Physically capable of working on 30 foot ladders.
