HVAC Service Technician - Residential
Job summary:
The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential HVAC systems. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail to ensure that systems operate efficiently and effectively. The technician will interact with homeowners to explain issues and solutions, ensuring customer satisfaction. Minimum of 5 years of experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues in residential settings including furnaces and boilers, including work on boilers and rooftop units.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Install new HVAC systems and components, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
- Brazing skills, compressor replacement experience, and experience with installing thermostats.
- Educate and advise homeowners on energy efficiency and system upgrades.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, including assessments, repairs, and installations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on the latest HVAC technologies and industry trends.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; technical school training in HVAC preferred; college degree a plus.
- EPA 608 (Type II) certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential HVAC repair and installation.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, tools, and equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record; ability to meet driving requirements for company vehicle.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Physical Demands and Cognitive Requirements:
- Physically capable of performing tasks requiring lifting 50+ pounds, standing, and bending.
- Physically capable of working on 30 foot ladders.
