HVAC Technician

Job Overview

The HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure optimal performance and strict compliance with safety standards. This role requires robust technical expertise, exceptional diagnostic skills, and the capability to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary maintenance team. The primary goal is to maximize equipment reliability, minimize system downtime, and preserve safe, comfortable indoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Perform routine and comprehensive maintenance on a wide range of HVAC infrastructure, including chillers, split units, Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Coil Units (FCUs), ducting networks, and exhaust systems.
• Installation & Testing: Install, inspect, and rigorously test new HVAC systems and localized components to verify structural functionality, optimal performance, and safety compliance.
• Fault Diagnosis & Repair: Systematically diagnose complex mechanical and electrical faults within HVAC networks and execute precision repairs.
• Emergency Response: Respond swiftly to urgent system breakdowns and emergency calls to ensure minimal operational downtime and prevent facility disruptions.
• Performance Monitoring: Continuously evaluate system operations and energy efficiency, proactively recommending upgrades, modernizations, or equipment improvements when necessary.
• Documentation & Logs: Maintain detailed and organized service logs, checklists, and maintenance reports for all completed field activities.
• Compliance & Safety: Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations, occupational health policies, company procedures, and manufacturer guidelines.
• Inventory Management: Assist with the inventory, tracking, and procurement of essential spare parts, specialized tools, and technical equipment.
• Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with and assist other engineering and maintenance staff in multi-disciplinary tasks to support broad facility operations.

Qualifications

• Technical Training: Certified technical diploma, vocational degree, or an equivalent trade certification in HVAC/R systems.
• Experience: Proven experience working as an HVAC Technician, with solid familiarity in diagnosing commercial/industrial HVAC systems and electrical controls.
• Physical & Environmental Agility: Physically fit and fully capable of handling heavy tools, manual tasks, and equipment. Proven ability to work comfortably in confined spaces, at heights (including rooftops), and under varying weather or environmental conditions.
• Scheduling Flexibility: Willingness and availability to work on a rotational shift schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays, to accommodate facility coverage and emergency response.
