Job Details

Division: GH2 Operations.

Reports To: GH2 Executive Operations Director.

Liaise/Cooperate With: Plant operation staff, technical support teams and contractors.

Position Summary

GHE Hydrogen plant manager role is a key member of the O&M management team for NGHC. This position will have operation responsibility for Electrolysis, H2 compression, Purification and storage plants located in GHE site, Neom region, KSA.

The successful candidate will build strong relationships with AP-EPC & NGHC Project teams, technical support teams, contractors, and customers.

The position reports to the NGHC Executive Operations Director.

Nature & Scope
  • Will lead the operation team to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of assigned production units.
  • Will develop, together with the Operations Director, the necessary operation management systems for the assigned plants.
  • Will participate in the commissioning and start-up of the production units.
  • Will drive the Operations team towards compliance with safety and operation activities in all areas.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of 50 - 60 operators.
  • Build and maintain strong relationship with NGHC Ammonia and ASU & Utilities Plant Managers.
  • Ensure that plant documentation, including operating manuals and SOPs, are kept up to date and easily accessible to users.
  • Monitor the efficiency and reliability of the production plants.
  • Achieve safe, stable and reliable operation of plants using operating procedures, EH&S standards and NGHC policies.
  • Provide a positive work environment and develop employees.
  • Availability to take calls after hours and weekends to assist operation emergency call outs as well as support in plant activities as needed.
  • Ensure that the operation team is trained in accordance NGHC training procedure.
  • Work in the H2 plants Turnarounds preparation.
  • Actively participate in NGHC safety programs, promote, and enforce safety rules and good housekeeping methods.
  • Identifying, communicating, implementing, and maintaining "best practices" and procedures.
  • Manage KPIs to measure operation performance and improve effectiveness.
  • Ensuring application and compliance with all training, procedures, standards, specifications, KSA codes and statutory requirements.
  • A strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity.
  • Promote resource sharing across NGHC Operations.
  • Rapid response to periodic and unplanned shutdowns to avoid business losses.
  • Problem solving, diagnostics, troubleshooting initiatives are part of this accountability.
  • Actively participate in the pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up of the plants.
Skills / Technical Knowledge Areas
  • Bachelor's degree Chemical Engineering.
  • Candidate must possess a strong safety focus and background.
  • 10+ years of experience in oil and gas or chemical industry plant operations.
  • Experience in operation of chlor-alkali electrolysis plants.
  • Strong leadership abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational planning skills with the ability to set priorities.
  • High ethical standards - unwilling to compromise on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of operating plant environment.
Essential Education Qualifications
  • The incumbent must possess a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably in chemistry and a minimum of 10 years of experience in operation management in oil and gas or chemical industry, preferably with experience in chlorine production plants.
