The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading intergovernmental body in the field of migration and a UN-related agency. Since becoming a full member in 1991 , Egypt has been a key partner, with IOM Cairo supporting the government and civil society across areas such as:

  • Labour migration and human development
  • Counter-trafficking
  • Migration management and governance
  • Migration health
  • Emergency and post-crisis response
  • Resettlement and humanitarian assistance


The ICT Officer will strengthen IOM Egypt’s information and communication technology systems , supporting digital transformation, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making. The role involves leading ICT operations, managing a small team, coordinating with regional and HQ counterparts, and supporting the Wave implementation .


Key Responsibilities

1. ICT Unit Management

  • Lead and supervise ICT operations and staff, ensuring alignment with IOM’s strategic priorities.
  • Manage ICT resources, support Wave implementation, and ensure compliance with service standards.
  • Promote a cooperative and efficient team culture.

2. Business Relationship & Stakeholder Management

  • Engage with internal teams to identify ICT needs and propose practical solutions.
  • Liaise with UN ICT working groups and external partners on shared initiatives.

3. ICT Operations & Infrastructure

  • Manage ICT services, equipment, and systems in line with mission objectives and SLAs.
  • Implement modern workspace and collaboration tools to enhance digital efficiency.
  • Advise management on infrastructure improvements and oversee ICT procurement.

4. Cybersecurity Oversight

  • Respond to information security incidents and coordinate with HQ specialists.
  • Implement cybersecurity standards and ensure compliance with internal policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and risk records.

5. Data Management & Digital Innovation

  • Develop and maintain data systems and analytic tools to support decision-making.
  • Drive innovation and adoption of new digital technologies to enhance operations.
  • Support evaluation and rollout of digital initiatives.

6. Other Duties

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support mission objectives.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years in ICT management, preferably within an international organization.
  • Proven experience in digital innovation, risk management, and cybersecurity.
  • Strong knowledge of systems administration, networks, and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • English: Fluent (required)
  • Arabic: Working knowledge (desirable)


Technical Skills & Certifications

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows OS, TCP/IP, Cisco devices, VPNs, and Microsoft 365 .
  • Experience in network management, data systems, and IT security controls .
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Preferred Certifications: PMP/Prince2, ITIL, CCNA, MCSA, Microsoft 365 Certified, or Cisco Meraki Specialist.


Volunteer Living Allowance: currently US$ 2,460 to US$ 2,910
