The ICT Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, hands-on ICT lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum (Cambridge/IB/National), integrating technology into learning, and fostering digital literacy, computational thinking, and responsible online behaviour among students.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver high-quality ICT lessons aligned to Cambridge/IB learning objectives and school standards.
- Teach computer skills including typing, productivity tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), coding basics, digital research skills, and safe online practices.
- Introduce students to computational thinking, problem-solving strategies, and digital creativity.
- Use interactive tools, simulations, and software to enhance learning experiences.
- Design practical assignments, projects, and assessments that build real-world digital competencies.
Curriculum & Assessment
- Develop and review ICT curriculum units, lesson plans, and assessment tools.
- Maintain records of student progress and provide timely feedback.
- Prepare students for ICT-related assessments and projects (Cambridge Primary/Lower Secondary/EYP or IB MYP as applicable).
- Support integration of ICT skills across other subject areas.
Classroom & Resource Management
- Ensure proper functioning of the computer lab and maintain an organised, safe environment.
- Coordinate with IT support for smooth operation of hardware, software, and digital learning platforms.
- Ensure students follow cyber-safety, ethical use of technology, and digital citizenship guidelines.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in school events, meetings, training, and professional development sessions.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and ICT initiatives.
- Stay updated with emerging educational technologies, tools, and digital learning methodologies.
3. Qualifications & SkillsEducational Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science / ICT / Information Technology or related field.
- B.Ed. or teaching certification preferred (for Cambridge/IB schools).
Technical Skills
- Strong command over productivity tools, educational apps, and digital teaching platforms.
- Working knowledge of coding languages appropriate for school level (Scratch, Python, HTML basics, etc.).
- Familiarity with LMS platforms, online safety frameworks, and digital creation tools.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Creative, patient, and student-centred teaching approach.
- Ability to integrate technology into wider curriculum areas.
- Strong problem-solving and organisational abilities.
