Be a Champion for Change in Immigration Court
At Aaron G. Christensen, Attorney at Law, We are a high-volume, mission-driven immigration firm dedicated to serving the Hispanic community in the United States. We are not a traditional firm where attorneys drown in paperwork. We operate on a high-leverage model: You will be supported by a robust team of 10+ experienced paralegals, intake specialists, and administrative staff (both in-house and remote).
Our philosophy is simple: Paralegals prepare the files; Attorneys win the arguments.
The Opportunity: We are seeking a fearless Immigration Litigator to lead our Removal Defense (EOIR) docket. You are an attorney who thrives on standing before an Immigration Judge, thinking on your feet, and fighting for clients in complex asylum and cancellation of removal cases.
You will be stepping into a key role with immediate responsibility. We are looking for a "Showrunner"—someone capable of managing the courtroom, mentoring staff, and eventually helping to lead the legal department.
What You Will Do:
- Lead in Court: Represent clients in EOIR hearings (Master Calendar and Individual Hearings) with confidence and poise.
- Strategize: Analyze complex removal cases to determine the best relief (Asylum, 42b, Adjustment of Status, etc.) and direct the legal team on evidence gathering.
- Execute Complex USCIS: Handle high-stakes USCIS interviews (Stokes interviews, complex naturalization) and motions.
- Mentor & Manage: Provide legal guidance to our team of paralegals and legal assistants, helping to improve the quality of filings and team efficiency.
Who You Are:
- A Litigator at Heart: You do not shy away from adversarial environments. You are comfortable dealing with DHS trial attorneys and holding your ground with Immigration Judges.
- Fully Bilingual (Spanish/English): You can prep a witness, explain complex legal strategy to a client, and conduct a consultation entirely in Spanish without an interpreter.
- Decisive: You can look at a fact pattern and make a judgment call on case strategy quickly.
- Emotionally Resilient: You understand the high stakes of removal defense and can maintain professional composure under pressure.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active Bar Admission (Any U.S. State).
- Minimum [1-3] years of experience specifically in EOIR / Removal Defense.
- Proven track record of handling Individual Hearings.
- Fluency in Spanish is mandatory.
Why Join Us?
- Unrivaled Support: You will have dedicated paralegal support for drafting, filing, and evidence collection. Your job is to be the lawyer, not the admin.
- Growth Potential: We are a growing firm. This role offers a direct pathway to management and leadership responsibilities.
- Impact: We serve a vulnerable population that relies on our expertise to keep their families together.
What We Offer:
- Competitive Salary: Starting at $95,000 per year, with bonus structures available for additional incentives.
- Health Insurance: Comprehensive coverage for peace of mind.
- Paid Time Off: Generous vacation and personal leave to support work-life balance.
- Professional Development: Ongoing training, mentorship, and leadership development opportunities.
- Collaborative Culture: A supportive, team-first environment that values growth and innovation.
- Leadership Opportunities: Clear pathways for growth into leadership roles within the firm.
Our Core Values:
- Clear Communication with Clients: Build trust by ensuring clients feel heard and informed.
- Excellence in Representation: Achieve the highest standards through strategic legal advocacy.
- Collaboration and Accountability: Embrace teamwork and shared responsibility for client outcomes.
- Profitability with a Purpose: Reinvest in our clients, team, and community to ensure lasting impact.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8-hour shift.
- Occasional weekend availability as needed.
