About the Role : This position requires superior leadership skills as well as personal traits. The incumbent must have hands-on knowledge and skills about the Company's core processes, OSHA codes and standards, industrial best practices, and system implementation techniques. This position requires that the incumbent should nurture a culture where everyone recognizes HSE as direct responsibility while implementing HSE policy. Candidate must be capable of making HSE a visible norm in the company and enhance systems effectiveness by innovative and time-tested implementation techniques. He must enjoy relevant technical and general management skills to develop, implement, and improve upon the HSE program of the Company. Play the role of Head, HSE in his absence.

Responsibilities :

• Demonstrate high degree of professional skills in meeting Health, Safety and Environmental objectives.
• Analyze HSE data collected on specified formats from all BU establishments/projects and report on the health of HSE system implementation to the top management.
• Continually improve HSE standards which facilitate the management in business acquisition and client handling.
• Visit different project sites for monitoring and inspection of HSE activities to verify compliance of project specific HSE plan and advise improvements where needed through audit reports.
• Visit sites in case of major accident/fatality, which needs detailed investigation.
• Compliance with HSE, Quality & Company Systems.
• Ensure that Initial Environmental Evaluation (IEE) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is carried out before any job can start.
• Participate in the process of environmental, health and safety hazard identification and carry out risk assessment involving line management in order to get their input for its effectiveness and ownership for the compliance.
• Take responsibility for solid/liquid waste management system (i.e. waste collection, separation at source, and waste disposal).
• Conduct HSE audits of BUs/Project Site and follow up for the closeout to verify compliance and advise concerned to improve the weaknesses observed.
• Facilitate establishments in developing emergency response plans in order to deal with work and infrastructure related emergencies and to monitor that drills are conducted regularly to verify preparedness of workforce to recover from such situations within the shortest possible time.
• Develop and promote HSE programs by writing and updating the HSE rules and procedures applicable to business areas by consulting internationally recognized HSE standards, best practices, and benchmarking.
• Assist HR department for interviewing potential candidates for HSE positions & coordinate with HRD for timely recruitment of HSE manpower for different project sites.
• Develop and review HSE training material for project management team first line supervisors and workers. Hold orientation sessions for those proceeding to the projects. Guide and coach HSE trainees.
• Ensure the effective achievement of HSE objectives through strong leadership by setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal – in order to maximize subordinate and the performance of the section.
• Accountable to create a safe working environment, manage risks, reduce exposure to hazardous liability and ensure implementation of QHSE policy.

Qualifications :

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Relevant fields.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in HSE in petrochemical or construction with exposures in Incharge role.
