Industrial Maintenance Technician

Job purpose

The Maintenance Technician Level II position has a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of factory operations. This position requires a highly skilled, self-motivated professional capable of troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing industrial machinery and facility infrastructure. The technician will be responsible for day-to-day planning, coordinating with Operations, and executing work orders assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. Strong vendor relationships must be developed and maintained to ensure the timely procurement of essential parts and materials.

Duties and responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

· Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems in factory-based machinery.

· Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals.

· Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs on production machines and facility equipment, including plumbing, metalworking, and general infrastructure tasks.

· Utilize a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment for maintenance operations.

· Detect faulty operations, defective materials, and unusual conditions, reporting issues promptly to management.

· Conduct quality repairs that improve equipment performance and longevity.

Preventive & Emergency Maintenance

· Execute preventive maintenance plans on machinery, equipment, and facility infrastructure.

· Prioritize and direct emergency repairs while minimizing production downtime.

· Quickly fill in for other maintenance technicians as needed to maintain operational efficiency.

· Lead troubleshooting efforts during critical equipment failures, ensuring rapid problem resolution.

Collaboration & Communication

· Work closely with Operations to ensure smooth factory operations and resolve maintenance concerns efficiently.

· Coordinate and communicate maintenance priorities.

· Maintain and develop vendor relationships to secure competitive quotes and ensure the timely delivery of parts and supplies.

· Train and mentor junior technicians, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications & Skills

· High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent combination of education and production maintenance experience.

· Minimum 5+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial setting.

· Provide their own tools up to 1¼”.

· Strong expertise in hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical troubleshooting and repair.

· Experience with PLC systems and HVAC is highly preferred.

· Ability to work independently and take initiative in problem-solving.

· Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Working conditions

· Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration in a fast-paced industrial environment.

· Noise levels in the work environment can be loud.

· Always requires compliance with all safety regulations and proper PPE usage.

Physical requirements

This position requires regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day.

Must be able to lift and move items over 20 pounds frequently.

Requires clear communication with team members and the ability to wear safety glasses while performing tasks.

Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
