Infant and Toddler Teacher

The YMCA of Corry Child Development Center - a Pennsylvania Keystone STARS, STAR 4 Center - has been providing high-quality care for over 20 years. The YMCA of Corry provides exceptional early childhood education to children as young as six weeks, through 12 years old. We participate in the Infant Toddler Contracted Slots grant and Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts, in addition to offering a dynamic before and after school program and summer day camp.

We are currently seeking positive, motivated, and dependable individuals to join our team. The primary duty of the Infant and Toddler Teacher is teaching students according to the established educational curriculum of the YMCA. The Infant Toddler Teacher assists the Lead Teacher who oversees curriculum, materials, management, and general supervision of an assigned class.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, implementation, and supervision of the daily classroom program in accordance with the philosophy of the YMCA.
  • Assists the activities of Teachers, Assistant Teachers, and volunteers, providing guidance as needed.
  • Assists in the supervising all aspects of classroom management, e.g. managing direct reports, ensuring curriculum integrity, etc.
  • Assists the Director, Childcare Coordinator, and Curriculum Specialist in assessing continuing education needs and providing training as requested.
  • Assists in designing the classroom curriculum to meet the needs of each child's interests, challenges, special talents, individual style, and pace of learning.
  • Maintains a safe, orderly, attractive, and clean learning environment.
  • Maintains ongoing developmental evaluation of children.
  • Always demonstrates 100% accountability of children and follows all accountability systems.
  • Writes complete and individualized daily notes for children in primary care group and oversees the writing of appropriate daily notes for all children in the class.
  • Assists in implementing, and achieving classroom curriculum objectives.
  • Maintains compliance with regulatory, accreditation and the YMCA’s policies.
  • Assists in developing and distributing an informative and professional appearing monthly classroom newsletter.
  • Promotes and supports school events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and teachers.
  • Must have technological competency as it relates to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Must be English proficient and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic - must be a team player!
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule between the hours of 6:00 AM –6:00 PM.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, kneel, sit, walk, run short distances, stand, reach above head, and move up and down from floor to lift children.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have color/depth perception and fine hand & finger movements.
  • Necessary abilities for this position are: Seeing, Hearing, Talking, Reading, and Writing.
  • Must have the ability to positively interact with co-workers, parents, children, vendors, and other visitors.
  • Working conditions may include exposure to loud noises, odors, fumes from paint, art materials or other sources, temperature variations from either working inside or out.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $11.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 35 per week

Experience:

  • early childhood: 2 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
  • Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
