Job Role: Infection Control Nurse (ICN)

Department: Infection Control / Quality & Patient Safety

Location: Kauvery Hospital - Kovilambakkam

Experience: 5 + Years

Role Overview:

The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and evaluating infection prevention and control practices across the hospital. The role focuses on surveillance of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), ensuring compliance with infection control policies, staff education, audits, and supporting patient safety initiatives in alignment with NABH and statutory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Infection Surveillance & Monitoring: Conduct daily surveillance of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) such as: CLABSI, CAUTI, VAP, SSI, Collect, analyze, and report infection control data as per hospital protocol.Monitor infection trends and identify high-risk areas.

2. Policy Implementation & Compliance: Implement infection control policies and SOPs across clinical and non-clinical areas.Ensure compliance with NABH, WHO, CDC, and statutory guidelines.Support preparation and compliance for internal and external audits.

3. Audits & Rounds: Conduct infection control audits (hand hygiene, PPE usage, environmental hygiene, biomedical waste, CSSD practices, etc.).Perform regular infection control rounds in wards, ICUs, OTs, and support areas.Identify non-compliance and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

4. Training & Awareness: Plan and conduct infection control training programs for clinical and non-clinical staff.Educate staff on hand hygiene, standard precautions, transmission-based precautions, and safe practices.Participate in induction and continuous education programs.

5. Outbreak Management: Assist in identifying, investigating, and controlling infection outbreaks.Coordinate with microbiology, clinicians, nursing, and quality teams during outbreak situations.Support implementation of isolation and cohorting practices.

6. Coordination & Reporting: Coordinate with nursing units, doctors, microbiology, CSSD, housekeeping, and biomedical waste teams.Prepare daily, monthly, and annual infection control reports.Present infection control data and action plans in committee meetings.

7. Documentation & Quality Improvement: Maintain infection control documentation, checklists, and surveillance records.Support quality improvement projects related to infection prevention.Assist in developing and revising infection control policies and guidelines.

Qualifications: B.Sc Nursing / GNM (Mandatory)Infection Control Certification (Preferred)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
