Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history-taking, physical examinations, and vital signs to evaluate infectious disease conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based practices, including antimicrobial stewardship and infection control protocols.
- Administer and monitor advanced therapies such as IV infusions, antibiotic regimens, and botulinum toxin treatments for specific neurological or aesthetic indications.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations using laboratory data, imaging results, and clinical findings; coordinate specimen collection and processing as needed.
- Manage complex cases involving immunocompromised patients, geriatrics, pediatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities in various settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, or assisted living facilities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and utilization review to ensure seamless patient care transitions.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks while adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical terminology standards.
- Provide education on infection prevention strategies, medication administration including CPT coding for billing purposes, and health coaching tailored to diverse populations including hospice & palliative medicine or memory care patients.
Skills
- Proven experience working with infectious disease care in inpatient or outpatient settings; critical care or ICU experience highly valued.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate documentation and order entry.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, microbiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques relevant to infectious diseases.
- Skilled in performing procedures like venipuncture, catheterization, sterile processing techniques, spinal taps, dermal fillers, suturing, and tube feeding management.
- Experience with telehealth platforms to deliver remote patient consultations effectively.
- Familiarity with advanced clinical skills including airway management, ventilator support, dialysis procedures, gastrostomy care, and infection control practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or emergency medicine units; experience in trauma centers is a plus.
- Excellent patient assessment capabilities across age groups—from neonates requiring neonatal ventilator support to elderly patients in memory or dementia care settings.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases; experience in behavioral health or pain management is advantageous.
- Competence in ICD-10/ICD-9 coding for accurate billing and documentation; familiarity with CPT coding for procedures performed.
