Scribe/MA-R/MA-C (Pediatrics)

Role and Responsibilities

1. Accompany physician into the patient examination room in order to document accurately the physician's encounter with the patient and others present.

2. Using an EHR, document history of present illness, family and social history, review of systems and physical exam and dictated by physician.

3. Record all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by physician.

4. Create orders as desired by medical provider and check constantly for results of those orders (including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.).

5. If orders are not completed in a timely fashion or if results are incomplete, troubleshoot for causes and solutions.

6. Under the supervision of the prescribing provider, may send prescriptions to the patient's preferred pharmacy.

7. Assist the healthcare team in entering and following up on referrals when needed.

8. Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness while observing safety and security procedures.

9. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients and staff.

10. Maintains confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines.

11. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

4. Exceptional computer skills and ability to accurately record information in EHR.

5. Strong organizational skills with focus on recording details of patient care.

6. Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.

7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with healthcare providers and team members.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

1. Complete MA-R after hire date.

2. Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

3. Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain clinical competency as required for area of assignment.

4. Excellent communication skills to include written and verbal comprehension and expression.

5. Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with standards of service excellence and organization values.

6. Knowledgeable about scope of practice.

7. Demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

8. Bilingual language skills preferred.


Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 30 pounds and stand long periods of time.

Position Type/Expected Hours to work: 30-40 hours a week

The Walla Walla Clinic offers the following benefits:

  • Insurances: Employees consistently working 30 or more hours per week are eligible for medical, dental, vision, hospital confinement, life, disability insurances after satisfying the waiting period.
  • Retirement: Voluntary contributions to the 401k and/or Roth plans after first of the quarter following hire date. The Clinic matches up to 5% of eligible salary after one year of employment and a minimum 1,000 hours of service.
  • Time Off Benefit:

Paid Time Off (PTO): Full-time and part-time (part-time is prorated) employees will begin accruing upon hire date. Waiting period of 90 days. PTO amounts for 40-hour employees are 23 days (184 hours). Maximum annual carryover of 240 hours.

WA Paid Sick Leave: All employees accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked. Waiting period of 90 days. Maximum rollover is 40 hours per year.

Extended Sick Time (EST): Full-time and part-time (part-time is prorated) employees will begin accruing upon hire date. Waiting period of 90 days. EST hours may be used for illness or injury after an absence of three consecutive working days. WA Paid Sick Leave and/or PTO, if available, will be used during this waiting period. Maximum accumulation of 480 hours.

  • Bonuses: The Clinic typically offers an annual bonus based on hours worked.
