Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Infusion Coordinator (Authorization & Care Coordination Specialist) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical billing, insurance processes, and patient care coordination. This role is vital in ensuring seamless authorization processes, accurate medical documentation, and effective communication between patients, providers, and insurance companies. Responsibilities
- Obtain prior authorizations from insurance providers for infusion therapies and related treatments, ensuring timely approval for patient care.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to gather necessary documentation, including medical records and treatment plans, to support authorization requests.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits accurately, including managed care plans, to facilitate smooth billing and reimbursement processes.
- Maintain detailed and compliant medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Utilize medical coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding to ensure accurate billing and documentation.
- Collaborate with medical offices and other healthcare facilities to streamline care coordination efforts and improve patient outcomes.
- Assist in resolving insurance denials or delays by providing necessary documentation or appeals support.
- Support the administrative team with office experience tasks related to medical records management, insurance verification, and appointment scheduling.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of managed care policies, insurance verification procedures, and authorization processes.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and familiarity with medical records management.
- Experience working within a healthcare setting such as a medical or dental office environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient privacy and data security.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with patients, providers, insurance companies, and internal teams.
- Prior experience in medical office administration or related roles is highly desirable; dental office experience is a plus.
