Installation Technician – Entry Level

Pay: $18.00 per hour
Location: Lafayette, IN (In-person)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

About the Role

Move Over Outfitters, a veteran-owned company, is seeking a motivated Installation Technician to join our growing team. In this hands-on role, you’ll install and service technology systems in public safety and commercial vehicles, including two-way communication systems and in-car video equipment.

This is an entry-level position with training provided—we’re looking for reliable, detail-oriented individuals who are eager to learn and grow in a technical field.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and configure vehicle systems including radios, warning lights, and video equipment
• Prepare vehicles for installation and perform system upgrades and repairs
• Test and troubleshoot equipment to ensure proper functionality
• Use tools and electrical testing equipment (such as ohmmeters)
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
• Collaborate with team members to complete installations efficiently

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to use hand and power tools
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and time management skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work inside vehicles
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• High school diploma or GED
• Must be able to pass a background check

Preferred (not required):

• Experience with 12-volt systems, vehicle installs, or similar work
• EVT certification
