The Instructional Designer performs a variety of instructional design functions related to the planning, development, and delivery of courses. Works with instructional technology tools to design interactive learning content. Manages multiple projects working with subject matter experts to design and build online courses. Researches instructional design theories and tools for applicability in learning.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops or updates courses, instructional materials, and other instructional information consistent with adult learning theory for delivery in online learning, blended courses, and face-to-face courses.

  • Present information with a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and/or lectures.

  • Works with subject matter experts (SMEs) in defining course outcomes and objectives.

  • Design and develop engaging, interactive, and instructionally sound materials that address various learning styles and are accessible to all team members, as applicable, including but not limited to manuals, guides, handouts or visual materials.

  • Design and produce learning materials in a variety of formats, including print, graphics, audio, video, animation, and multimedia to optimize training effectiveness and costs. Leverage other formats as needed to support training (e.g., Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality).

  • Utilize digital tools for project management to ensure alignment across projects.

  • Work with the Learning Management System (LMS) administrator to ensure quality of course development, tools, test accessibility, and compliance.

  • Learn new technologies and applications to assist course design.

  • Stay current with software updates and industry best practices to ensure training materials are up-to-date.

  • Assist with internal learning management system (LMS) needs, load course content, manage user acceptance (UAT) for newly introduced or modified content, assist with technical concerns related to course materials.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Educational Design and Development or a closely related field of study required; Masters Degree desired.

  • 3+ years related experience required with responsibility for end-to-end creation of instructor led and/or e-learning materials OR an equivalent combination of certification, education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above

  • Expertise in instructional design principles and software, including but not limited to Articulate 360, Storyline, Rise, Adobe, etc.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Experience with multi-media educational software in support of training development and interactions.

  • Experience with LMS administration within Workday including custom creation, online facilitation and tracking, as well as reporting.

  • Knowledge with graphic design and web design.

  • Knowledge of internal and external customer service principles and practices.

  • Knowledge and application of organizational and time management principles.

  • Knowledge of project management principles.

  • Knowledge and application of various instructional methodologies.

  • Skilled in program development, process improvement and change management.

Other Duties:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an standard office setting; to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally position self to perform duties; to move, transport, and/or position objects of light to moderate (up to 20 pounds) amounts of weight; to operate office equipment including use of a computer keyboard; and to effectively communicate to exchange information.
