Instructional Designer

Position Summary
The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing, designing, and implementing high- quality training materials and learning experiences that support employee development, compliance, product knowledge, and operational excellence across MRCOOL. This role partners closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), department managers, and HR to create engaging, clear, and effective training content for a wide variety of audiences, including production, customer service, technical support, sales, and corporate teams.
Key Responsibilities
Training Design & Development
- Create engaging, instructionally sound training materials, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training (ILT) content, job aids, videos, assessments, and blended learning programs.
- Apply adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and best practices to ensure effective learning outcomes.
- Design and manage content within the company’s Learning Management System (LMS).
- Update and improve existing training materials to reflect new processes, products, or standards.
Collaboration & Project Management
- Partner with SMEs and department leaders to identify training needs, clarify learning objectives, and gather relevant content.
- Plan, schedule, and manage training development projects to meet deadlines and organizational priorities.
- Ensure training materials are consistent with MRCOOL brand standards, internal policies, and compliance requirements.
- Assist in evaluating training program effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Content Creation & Technical Writing
- Develop clear, concise written materials such as manuals, step-by-step guides, product knowledge sheets, SOPs, and reference documents.
- Translate complex technical information into user-friendly, accessible training content for diverse learner groups.
- Produce scripts and storyboards for training videos or interactive modules.
Training Delivery & Support
- Facilitate occasional classroom or virtual training sessions, ensuring high levels of learner engagement.
- Support managers and team leads by providing training tools, coaching on delivery, and guidance on training best practices.
- Track learner participation, performance, and compliance through the LMS.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field; or equivalent relevant experience.
- 2+ years of experience in instructional design, training development, e-learning creation, or related field.
- Experience with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, Adobe Captivate).
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze learning needs and convert technical content into effective training.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and project coordination skills.
Preferred
- Experience creating training for manufacturing, HVAC, or technical environments.
- Familiarity with LMS platforms and SCORM/AICC compliance.
- Graphic design, video editing, or multimedia development experience.
- Working knowledge of adult learning theory (ADDIE, SAM, Bloom’s Taxonomy, etc.).

Working Conditions
Standard office environment with frequent interaction with production, warehouse, and technical teams. Occasional need to observe manufacturing or warehouse processes for training development purposes.
