THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION AND REQUIRES TRAVEL TO VARIOUS CAMPUSES

JOB SUMMARY: Serves as the authoritative consultant for the design, development and evaluation of instructional programs, materials, methods, student support systems, teaching and assessment techniques. Collaborates with Department Chairs and/or Deans on the effectiveness of the instructional programs. Reports to the Chief Online Learning Officer/Associate Vice Chancellor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the overall management of various complex projects for a team of educational designers and learning specialists. Manages multiple projects, establishes timelines and milestones, and communicates frequently and effectively with various project team members and stakeholders to ensure that project goals and objectives are met.
  • Manages the implementation of improvement strategies to increase the effectiveness of instructional design services; oversees the sustainment of the design asset life cycle.
  • Advises and collaborates with faculty and academic leaders on the selection of appropriate instructional technologies and delivery strategies.
  • Consults with faculty and departments to provide recommendations on course design, development of learning resources, and the retooling of courses and course segments for hybrid and online delivery.
  • Leads the collaboration with faculty to examine instructional goals, objectives and timelines to design, develop, and implement courses within a program or sequence according to instructional design principles and research; ensures compliance with accessibility guidelines.
  • Responsible for the planning, development and implementation of training, and recommends training presentations and staff development workshops to faculty.
  • May plan and develop experimental programs, evaluate results, and utilize the findings in planning, developing, and installing new or modified programs.
  • Researches and evaluates emerging online educational technologies.
  • May perform duties of a Course Review Manager.
  • Collaborates with Online Learning Coordinator(s) and Director of Online Learning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master's degree in a related field; or a combination of relevant experience, education and training that equates to the required degree.
  • Five years of instructional design experience.
  • Experience or related experience in all phases of instructional system development; including planning, coordination, implementation, revision, presentation, and maintenance of training programs.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field; or a combination of relevant experience, education and training that equates to the required degree.
  • Five years of job-related experience.
  • Five years of experience managing large scale instructional design programs and projects.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

● Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver license. Must be insurable through the organization’s insurers.

● Must have completed the Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) workshop.

● Must have completed the Higher Ed Peer Reviewer (PRC) course or be able to complete training within 6 months of hire.

● Must have completed the Quality Matters Coordinator training (QMCT) or be able to complete training within 6 months of hire.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Advanced knowledge of learning theory, instructional design, and related software.
  • Advanced knowledge of training curriculums and conducting workshops.
  • Advanced ability to identify requirements, analyze and logically organize complex information and transform that into professionally designed, engaging and effective training materials.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with team members and key stakeholders to implement and improve processes and procedures to meet the goals of the institution.
  • Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize, plan and lead projects.
  • Ability to plan, organize and schedule staff and responsibilities effectively to achieve objectives while adhering to institutional and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Strong ability to work on multiple, complex projects and assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent facilitation skills, with experience using multiple forms of training delivery methodologies.
  • Ability to derive best practices and implement best practices from trend data analysis.
  • Ability to manage the implementation of action plans.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to make presentations to a diverse audience.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an office environment with no exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions. Physical demands are usually limited to sitting or standing in one location much of the time. Some stooping, lifting or carrying lightweight objects may be required.
