Position Overview

ChangeMakers Hawaiʻi is seeking experienced professionals to serve as instructors or subject matter experts in a virtual Small Business Development training program designed to support Native Hawaiian entrepreneurs.

Instructors will provide practical guidance, tools, and real-world insights that help participants build strong, sustainable businesses. Instruction may include teaching virtual workshops, leading discussions, or providing technical training in specific business areas.

This is a contract-based opportunity for professionals who are passionate about supporting Indigenous entrepreneurs and community economic development.

Instruction Topics May Include

We are currently seeking instructors with expertise in areas such as:

  • Small business finance and financial literacy
  • Accounting systems and bookkeeping
  • Access to capital and lending
  • CDFIs and community finance
  • Business planning and operations
  • Legal structures for small businesses
  • Payroll and HR systems
  • Business systems and technology
  • Economic development and entrepreneurship ecosystems
  • Scaling and sustaining mission-driven businesses

Additional topics may be considered depending on instructor expertise.

Responsibilities

Instructors may be asked to:

  • Lead one or more virtual training sessions or workshops
  • Provide practical instruction tailored to small business owners
  • Share tools, frameworks, and real-world examples
  • Participate in occasional Q&A sessions with participants
  • Coordinate with program staff on curriculum alignment and scheduling
  • Provide optional resources or materials to support participant learning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in business, finance, accounting, lending, or economic development
  • Experience supporting entrepreneurs, small businesses, or community enterprises
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in clear, practical terms
  • Experience teaching, facilitating workshops, or providing technical assistance
  • Understanding of Indigenous, Native Hawaiian, or community-based economic development models is highly valued

Compensation

Instructor compensation will be provided on a contract basis and will vary depending on session length and scope.

Pay: $25.74 - $31.00 per hour
