Instrumentation Engineer

Qualifications Education - B.E. / B.Tech in Instrumentation / Electronics / Electrical Engineering

JD Instrumentation Engineer

Instrumentation & Control Engineering

  • Develop control philosophy, functional design specifications (FDS), and cause & effect diagrams
  • Prepare and review P&IDs, Instrument Index, I/O list, Loop diagrams, Hook-up drawings, Cable schedules
  • Select and size field instruments:
  • Flow (Coriolis, MFM, DP, Vortex)
  • Pressure & DP transmitters
  • Temperature sensors (RTD, TC)
  • Control valves, on–off valves, actuators
  • Review vendor drawings, datasheets, and technical offers

PLC / Automation (Core Focus)

  • Develop PLC programs from scratch including logic, sequencing, interlocks, and safety
  • Hands-on experience with PLC platforms such as:
  • Siemens (S7-300/400/1200/1500, TIA Portal)
  • Allen Bradley (ControlLogix, CompactLogix)
  • Develop and test:
  • Ladder Logic, Function Block, Structured Text
  • Batch logic, recipe management, alarm handling
  • Integrate PLC with VFDs, MCCs, analyzers, weighing systems, and smart instruments

HMI / SCADA / DCS

  • Develop and configure HMI / SCADA systems (WinCC, FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, iFix, etc.)
  • Design operator-friendly screens, trends, alarms, and reports
  • Communication setup: Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC

FAT / SAT / Commissioning

  • Lead FAT, SAT, site commissioning, and start-up activities
  • Perform loop checking, I/O testing, interlock testing, and troubleshooting
  • Support process trials and performance testing

Safety & Compliance

  • Implement safety interlocks, permissives, and ESD logic
  • Exposure to SIL / SIS / HAZOP / Safety PLCs is an advantage
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards (IEC, ISA, ATEX where applicable)

Project & Team Coordination

  • Interface with clients, consultants, and vendors
  • Support project planning, estimation, and documentation
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers

Required Skills & Qualifications Education

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Instrumentation / Electronics / Electrical Engineering

Technical Skills

  • Strong PLC programming – core requirement
  • Solid understanding of process control & industrial automation
  • Hands-on field instrumentation knowledge
  • Experience in process industries: chemical, pharmaceutical, specialty chemicals, oil & gas, pilot plants
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and process documents

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication with clients and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work independently and lead automation scope

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹13,588.64 - ₹55,758.61 per month
