What ACES is Looking For?

ACES is looking for a Calibration Lab Supervisor to join the team in Doha, Qatar.

Job Summary:

Plan, prepare and supervise Laboratory services and execute, review and evaluate laboratory procedures, policies and procedures for operating functional laboratory. Implement testing program, review test results, follow up equipment maintenance and calibration and follow up the requirements for safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Managerial Duties:

  • Implement section’s policies, goals, objectives, and procedures and support in their development as needed.
  • Oversee the implementation of operations plans, policies, procedures and transition/migration plans.
  • Avoid any conflicts of interest that could compromise impartiality. Provide unbiased and objective assessments of equipment, ensuring all calibrations are performed to the highest standards without external influence.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all data and calibration results. This includes secure handling and storage of sensitive information.

Technical Duties:

  • Manage day to day operational and technical matters within the Laboratory.
  • Prepare and initially check calibration reports prior to their submission for approval by the calibration Department Manager
  • Ensure that the staffs under his/her control are adequately trained to perform their duties as per the quality system procedures and test methods/Work Instruction.
  • Ensure that all calibrations are carried out in accordance with relevant standard test methods and as per contractually agreed customers’ requirements.
  • Respond to customers’ inquiries about progress of calibration and reporting and mobilization of field activities.
  • Perform and oversee routine inspections and verification to ensure reference masters maintained & meet established calibration standards.
  • Ensure all site/lab equipment and instruments are fit for use by provision of necessary resources for the implementation of calibration and maintenance programs.
  • Ensure the implantation of calibration and maintenance programs are followed in timely manner in the calibration lab and other departments labs.
  • Ensure proper implementation of safety regulations and protection measures are taken in the lab.
  • Maintain accurate records of all calibration activities, including inspection, testing, and servicing work.
  • Ensure that all calibration Items are processed through the laboratory in expedient, quality conscious manner by following of Daily Programs prepared by the Engineer and accordingly assigns the work for every technician/assistant.
  • Check and update data sheet/forms in accordance with reference master list.
  • Check laboratory worksheets for accuracy of results before their submission to the concerned engineer for reporting.
  • Receive and inspect calibration items delivered to the laboratory.
  • Log customer orders and identify incoming items.
  • Participate in assessment of individual training needs and in on the job training.
  • Calibrate laboratory equipment in accordance to calibration schedules provided by quality department.
  • Housekeep laboratory and calibrated items storage and in coordination with calibration engineer/section Head.
  • Provide technical training to technicians, and Adopting new technologies related to calibration.

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma degree in Engineering physics, or a related scientific field is often preferred.
  • 4-6 years of experience in the field of calibration and Instrument Engineering.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Calibration Work Instructions /Test Standards and Specifications related to calibration.
  • Understanding of various measurement instrument and their calibration/maintenances.
  • Field and laboratory testing methodologies, standards, and specifications
  • Analysis, interpretation, and technical reporting of results
  • Validation, development, and optimization of testing and calibration methods
  • Metrology and SI principles to ensure measurement accuracy and traceability
  • Identification and evaluation of measurement uncertainty sources
  • Fundamentals of Mathematics, Calculations, Statistics and Data Analysis.
  • Use of calibration-related and laboratory software tools
  • Operation, calibration, and maintenance of testing and measurement equipment
  • Structured decision-making and problem-solving approaches
  • Planning, organizing, and effective resource management
  • Occupational health and safety principles
  • Ms. Word, excel & Outlook
