JOB PURPOSE
Insurance Specialist
The role will focus on managing all aspects of insurance policies, claims, and risk management to support the operational and commercial activities of the Ports. This is a critical role ensuring that all maritime and port operations are adequately insured and compliant with UAE regulations and international best practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage all insurance policies for Ports and Maritime operations, including marine, liability, property, employee-related, and project-specific coverage.

Coordinate with insurance brokers, underwriters, and insurers to secure optimal coverage terms, renewals, and cost-effective solutions.

Review contracts and agreements to ensure appropriate insurance coverage, risk allocation, and contractual compliance.

Manage insurance claims end-to-end, including investigation, negotiation, and timely settlement.

Conduct regular risk assessments, identify coverage gaps, and recommend mitigation measures.

Ensure full compliance with UAE insurance regulations and international maritime insurance best practices.

Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of insurance policies, claims, and reports for internal and external audits.

Advise operational, commercial, and legal teams on insurance matters, risk exposure, and claims management.

Manage project-specific insurance placements (CAR, EAR, DSU, Transit) in coordination with insurance brokers.

Coordinate with brokers to meet Lenders’ Insurance Advisor (LIA) requirements and provide insurance inputs for bankability assessments and lender due-diligence reports.

Review contractor-submitted insurance documents to ensure full compliance with contractual obligations and absence of coverage gaps.

Ensure timely payment of insurance premiums across all policies.

Monitor emerging global and industry risks that may impact current or pipeline projects and proactively escalate potential insurance constraints to management.

Ensure all group assets are adequately insured under a cost-effective and risk-appropriate approach.

Track industry trends and developments to continuously enhance insurance and risk management practices.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree in
Law, Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or Insurance
.

Professional certifications in insurance or risk management (e.g.,
CII, CPCU, or equivalent
) are preferred.

Strong understanding of maritime, shipping, logistics and port operations.
Language Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English is a must.
Years of Experience:

Minimum
5 –10 years
of relevant experience in insurance, risk management
Nature of Experience:
-
Hands-on experience in insurance policy management, claims handling, risk assessment, and contract review.

Exposure to maritime, shipping, ports, or logistics industries is highly preferred.

Familiarity with UAE regulations and international insurance standards.

Communication & Collaboration – Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of liaising effectively with insurers, brokers, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
