Intake Coordinator (Full-Time)
Connection Services – St. Louis, Missouri

Position Summary

Connection Services is seeking a full-time Intake Coordinator to manage all aspects of the client/patient intake and referral process. This role ensures timely, accurate admissions; verifies insurance coverage and authorizations; and maintains compliance with all state, federal, and payer regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.

The Intake Coordinator plays a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and supporting operational efficiency across assigned locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients/patients and serve as the first point of contact

  • Process referrals and communicate information to appropriate disciplines

  • Complete screening and admission paperwork accurately and thoroughly

  • Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and required authorizations

  • Ensure appropriate financial clearance prior to service delivery

  • Enter and maintain accurate demographic information in the EHR

  • Schedule consultations, evaluations, tests, and procedures

  • Maintain up-to-date census utilizing Bed Board

  • Respond promptly to phone and email inquiries

  • Address client/patient concerns professionally and efficiently

  • Prepare and maintain client/patient charts and perform general clerical duties

  • Promote operational efficiency through organized workflow management

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies

  • Collaborate with leadership across multiple locations

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Previous experience in patient intake or medical office administration preferred

Knowledge & Skills

  • Basic knowledge of ICD-10 and HCPCS/CPT coding

  • Familiarity with therapy services preferred

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Typing speed of at least 40 WPM with high accuracy

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, and Excel

  • Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations

Employment Requirements

  • Successful completion of background screening (criminal, driving, abuse/neglect, fingerprint)

  • Completion of New Hire Orientation and required annual trainings (including Relias)

  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance

Physical Requirements

Sedentary position involving prolonged sitting, occasional standing/walking, and repetitive hand/finger movements for typing. May exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
