PAWS Chicago is seeking an accomplished, animal-loving Integrated Marketing Manager & Writer to develop and execute strategic marketing initiatives that inspire our communities to donate, deepen engagement, and advance our mission to build No Kill communities.

This role blends marketing strategy, project management, and exceptional writing/editing skills to create compelling campaigns that drive fundraising, program participation, and community engagement. The ideal candidate loves both the art and science of content and words, and understands how to move people, both emotionally through the heart and intellectually through the head.

The Integrated Marketing Manager & Writer will work closely with the Director of Marketing to refine and execute PAWS Chicago’s overarching marketing and communications strategy while managing the tactical details that bring fundraising and awareness campaigns to life.

The successful candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys collaborating across teams, and can balance big-picture strategy with hands-on execution. This is a key role in advancing PAWS Chicago’s mission to save the lives of homeless pets and mobilize the community.

Strategy & Planning
  • Develop integrated marketing strategies including audience targeting, messaging frameworks, and channel selection.
  • Create and manage campaigns that drive engagement for PAWS Chicago’s core programs, including adoptions, fostering, volunteering, and community outreach.
  • Using marketing automation to nurture our communities through the fundraising funnel, moving them from initial awareness to consideration and ultimately, to making a donation.
  • Partner with internal teams (Development and Operations) to align marketing efforts with program priorities and organizational objectives.
  • Leverage analytics and insights to inform strategies, optimize performance, and ensure measurable results.

Writing & Editing
  • Write and edit high-quality, mission-driven content for digital, print, advertising, and email.
  • Craft stories that move people emotionally and intellectually, with a clear call to action.
  • Ensure all copy is on brand, consistent in style, quality, and voice, and optimized for each platform.
  • Provide editorial support to colleagues to strengthen messaging across the organization.

Campaign Execution
  • Manage campaign workflows from concept through delivery, ensuring projects meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with design, digital, and program teams to bring creative concepts to life.
  • Proofread and edit content for clarity, accuracy, and impact.
  • Use CRM systems like Salesforce, GoFundMe, etc. to track donor interactions and manage the fundraising process.

Collaboration & Leadership
  • Act as a thought partner to leadership on marketing priorities and campaign opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships across departments to foster a collaborative and creative environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of marketing, communications, or editorial experience, preferably within a corporate, agency or nonprofit environment.
  • Compelling and proficient writer with a proven track record of crafting stories that inspire and drive action.
