Intellectual Property Docket Specialist


Office Locations: Chicago, Denver, Indianapolis, Madison, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Naples, Phoenix, San Diego, St. Louis, Tampa, Tucson, Washington D.C.


We are currently seeking an Intellectual Property Docket Specialist to work out of any of the firm’s 13 offices. Qualified candidates will be considered for remote work.

The person in this role will work as part of a team to review incoming US Patent & Trademark Office and foreign communications, calendar deadlines, and enter applicable information into the docket system. The individual will also build custom reports for client teams as well as assist with incoming and outgoing case transfers. The successful candidate will have an interest in IP prosecution, client service, and database management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze US and foreign IP prosecution correspondence, identify applicable information, and enter in docket system
  • Calendar and de-docket IP due dates in the docket system
  • Proactively monitor due dates to ensure all deadlines are timely met
  • Advise attorneys and legal staff on issues related to maintaining and clearing docket
  • Prepare reports for attorneys and clients
  • Monitor and maintain integrity of data in docket system
  • Stay informed of US and foreign PTO rules and procedures
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned


Qualifications:

"Who Are You?"

  • Associate degree and/or 3 years IP docketing experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of multi-office team
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of IP docket software, preferably CPI, and excellent technical skills
  • Comfortable learning and adapting to changing workflows and/or procedures


Quarles & Brady offers competitive salaries, bonus and great benefits to employees including paid time off, health, vision, dental, 401k, life, disability and much more. Benefit eligibility is dependent on hours. Compensation is determined upon the market in which the position is located, the responsibilities of the position, the experience, education and skills of the applicant, and other job-related factors. The range for this position for individuals located in Chicago, San Diego or Washington D.C. is $64,256 to $104,122 annually. The range for this position for individuals located in Denver is $55,674 to $90,283 annually.
