About This Role

Design Vision is a boutique, luxury interior design studio serving the North Shore and Greater Boston areas, specializing in transforming homes into environments that are beautiful, functional, and deeply personal.

The Design Assistant role is an immersive, hands-on position at the heart of our studio practice. At Design Vision, the Design Assistant is involved across the full design process—from initial concept and material research to project installation and final photography. This is a role built for someone early in their career who is serious about interior design as a craft and eager to develop their skills within a high-end studio environment. The duties and responsibilities of our Design Assistant include:

Key Responsibilities

– Assist with the sourcing and preparation of material selections, digital mood boards and design presentations for active client projects

– Support the organization and maintenance of the studio's physical materials library and online product catalog, including ordering, tracking, and returning samples

– Research vendors, materials, finishes, and furnishings as directed by the Principal Designer

– Assist with sourcing and pulling product options within design platforms, including Materio

– Help maintain organized digital project files, reference libraries, and asset folders

– Support install days, trade days, and photoshoots with on-site assistance and styling

– Assist with content organization for social media, including cataloging project photography and preparing assets for posting

– Attend site visits, studio strategy sessions, vendor presentations and design meetings as scheduled

– Manage time independently to meet deadlines and complete assigned objectives within an active, fast-moving studio environment

What We're Looking For

– Bachelor's Degree required

– Someone who prides themselves on extreme attention to detail

– Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

– The confidence and skills to communicate your ideas clearly to clients and the team

– The ability to handle a fast paced work environment.

– Strong leadership ability and self-motivation

– Experience with design platforms such as Materio (our current product/procurement software), Studio Designer, or Houzz Pro: 1 year (Preferred)

– Efficient with drafting & modeling software programs, such as AutoCad, Sketchup & Chief Architect: 1 year (Preferred)

– Mood boarding, or material sourcing experience: 1 year (Preferred)

– Ability to work in our studio in Gloucester on days you are not remote.

– The materials library is consistently organized and easy for the design team to navigate

– Design support tasks are completed accurately and on time with minimal back-and-forth

– You are actively building proficiency in the tools, workflows, and professional standards of studio practice

– The Principal Designer feels genuinely supported on design tasks

– You are gaining real portfolio-worthy work and hands-on experience with design and project management platforms

Details

This is a paid, part-time position based in Gloucester, MA. The schedule is at least 2–3 days per week, with potentially more hours as needed. Compensation is commensurate with experience at $25–27/hr. A reliable car and personal laptop are required.
