Interior Design Associate

We are seeking a detail-oriented Interior Design Associate to join our design team and help clients make informed selections for their remodeling projects. This role ensures a seamless client experience, from initial design to project completion.

Position Overview

The Interior Design Associate is an active member of the design team, participating in projects from conceptual design through design development. This role supports the interior designer on larger projects while independently managing smaller projects with guidance from the design staff. Responsibilities include collaborating with clients, designers, and project managers on finish material and fixture selections to ensure alignment with project budgets, timelines, and design goals.

They are comfortable in a small business environment where teamwork is central, roles are dynamic, and each team member steps up to meet the needs of the moment. A genuine desire to grow within the craft of interior design, paired with a positive, collaborative attitude, is essential.

Responsibilities

Interior Design & Drafting

  • Develop functional conceptual layouts and design solutions for small projects, with guidance from senior design staff.
  • Create basic permit drawings, work orders, and construction documents based on approved layouts using Chief Architect and Adobe InDesign.
  • Assist senior designers on large projects across all phases, from conceptual design through design development.
  • Guide clients through the selection process for finish materials and fixtures in alignment with project scope, budget, and design intent.

Finish Selections & Project Coordination

  • Collaborate with designers, project managers, and contractors to ensure selections align with project timelines and budgets.
  • Maintain updated finish schedules, client files, and project documentation.
  • Track orders, check in deliveries, and installation schedules to prevent delays.
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and showroom representatives.
  • Stay current on industry trends, new products, and best practices in interior design and remodeling.

Communication & Client Experience

  • Provide professional, responsive communication and ensure a positive client experience.
  • Assist in resolving selection-related issues proactively and efficiently.
  • Marketing & Brand Support
  • Assist with the development and coordination of marketing materials such as project feature sheets, brochures, and presentation materials.
  • Help organize and coordinate project reveal parties, photo shoots, and other client-facing or promotional events.
  • Support social media management, including gathering project photos and details, drafting captions, and creating content with the marketing lead or leadership team.
  • Other marketing duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in interior design, selections coordination, or residential remodeling.
  • Up-to-date portfolio with examples of past work.
  • Strong design sense, with knowledge of materials and finishes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and client service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite.
  • Experience with Chief Architect or related design software (AutoCAD, Sketchup, Revit, etc.) preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
