Interior Design Draftsman

Position Overview:

An Interior Design Draftsman is responsible for creating detailed drawings and plans that aid in the design and execution of interior spaces. They work closely with interior designers, architects, and clients to translate concepts into technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Drafting and Design:

• Create detailed floor plans, elevations, and sections using CAD software.
• Develop 3D renderings and visualizations to present design ideas.
• Collaborate with interior designers to ensure designs meet client needs and aesthetic goals.

2. Technical Documentation:

• Prepare and maintain accurate technical drawings, specifications, and material lists.
• Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
• Document modifications and updates to design plans as needed.

3. Client Interaction:

• Assist in client meetings to understand design requirements and preferences.
• Present design concepts and modifications to clients for feedback.

4. Research and Material Selection:

• Research materials, furnishings, and finishes to recommend suitable options.
• Stay updated on industry trends and new design technologies.

5. Project Coordination:

• Work with contractors, suppliers, and other professionals to ensure project specifications are met.
• Coordinate timelines and schedules to meet project deadlines.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: Degree or diploma in interior design, architecture, or a related field.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit), and graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
• Attention to Detail: Ability to produce accurate and precise drawings.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for client interaction and collaboration.
• Creative Thinking: Ability to generate innovative design solutions while adhering to client requirements.

Experience:

• Previous experience in interior design drafting or a related role is preferred.
• A portfolio showcasing previous work and design projects is often required.

Working Conditions:

• Primarily office-based with occasional site visits.
