In this niche Interior Designer role, you will be primarily responsible for creating design concepts and layouts, then source, design, price, and purchase custom furniture, art, bedding, rugs, and other interior accessories, ensuring every project reflects our high standards and client preferences. Source other building materials such as tile, plumbing, flooring, lighting, etc. Will also work with CAD to bring innovative design concepts to life. · Design, source, price, and purchase high end, custom furniture, art, rugs, lighting and other soft interior products and accessories for private interior design clients of Katherine Mueller Design.

· Source building materials such as tile, plumbing, flooring, wall covering, lighting, etc.

· In coordination with the Owner/Principal Designer, will assist with project coordination to include site visits, overseeing and tracking project schedules, installation of furniture and managing client presentations.

· Must understand styling and scale of accessories and selection of accessories for furniture installations, including artwork and lighting.

· Research and evaluate suppliers, contractors, vendors, etc. to ensure quality, pricing, selection, and reliable service.

· Where appropriate, negotiate pricing or contracts with suppliers, vendors, and/or other business associates.

· Enhance sales opportunities and client service by cross-selling or recommending complementary accessories, where appropriate.

· Research and explore the use of new materials, technologies, and products to incorporate into designs. Keep abreast and current with design trends.

· Prepare “spec books” for client presentations. Must be able to present to client independently or with Owner/Principal. Must have working knowledge of design and furniture verbiage.

· Oversee and/or be responsible for communication, coordination of service, and follow-up with contractors, fabricators, installers, builders, etc. as needed.

· Work with the Procurement team as needed to prepare and process estimates, invoices, purchase transactions, and/or return of items for private design clients.

· In coordination with the Procurement team, follow-up timely on all special orders and with clients for product or merchandise information to close a sale and to ensure timely delivery.

· May assist or be responsible for design layout and installation at a client’s home.

· Participate in meetings with the Owner/Principal Designer, design clients, design team, and/or Showroom staff to share information, discuss pertinent information and/or delegate tasks. These meetings may take place outside of normal hours, and either at the office or at a client’s home.

· Other duties as assigned.

Experience/Educational Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree preferred but will consider equivalent in Interior Design or related field.

· Minimum of 6-8 years of professional interior design experience preferable in a luxury brand market.

· Extensive knowledge of high-end furniture lines and experience designing custom furniture.

· Experience with sourcing furniture, art, lighting, and other soft interior products required. Experience with sourcing building materials, plumbing, lighting, wall coverings, etc. required.

· Up to date understanding of design industry trends, best practices, and market trends.

· Keen eye for brand and design aesthetic.

· Proficient with all Microsoft products including Excel and PowerPoint (using a Mac), email and internet required; 2 years of experience with Quickbooks or other point of service software required.

· Working knowledge typically of at least 2-4 years of computer-aided design (CAD) software needed.

· Strong skills in understanding and incorporating furniture details, scale, and fabrics.

· Ability to perform math functions and analysis to ensure all purchase transactions and financial reports are accurate.

Physical/Mental Demands:

· Ability to freely move throughout the day, sometimes in small areas, to include walking, bending, stretching, reaching, lifting, pushing, etc.

· May stand or sit for long periods of time

· Ability to lift a minimum of 45 lbs. occasionally

· Coordination to manipulate fingers and hands to work with objects that may be fragile, small, large, odd-shaped, etc. and to work on a keyboard and other equipment

· Talk, hear and see at both a close and long range

· Verbally communicate with others

· Work with fluctuating workloads and with interruptions

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
