GPD is currently seeking an experienced Interior Designer for our Columbus, OH office location to support our various project types, such as Retail, Healthcare, Hospitality and Corporate Office projects.
The ideal candidate is:
- Interior Designer with 4+ years of experience working in architecture and interior design environment. Bachelor’s degree in interior design required; NCIDQ certification preferred.
- Experienced in all facets of interior design (programming, visioning, schematic design, documentation, and finishes and furniture specifications).
- Familiar with code requirements and construction building methods and materials.
- Revit/BIM experience required, rendering and animation capabilities, interest a plus.
- Experienced and comfortable working in a team environment with architects, project managers, engineers, and other designers.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of large project team.
- Comfortable presenting interior design ideation and solutions to clients as well as supporting our new projects pursuits as part of the presentation team.
- Demonstrates a client service attitude with experience in building relationships with key client personnel.
- Proficient at coordinating various disciplines of design working with internal team members and consultants. Organized in task management and able to accurately schedule resources as needed to help meet deadlines.
- Has a strong understanding of materials, finishes and furniture, including good rapport with key product representatives in the area.
- Must possess excellent communication skills, professional writing skills and the ability to multi-task between several projects, phases and priorities at one time. Is focused and diligent in meeting expectations.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the team with interior design solutions and documentation of many project types. This includes creative strategy, code research, programming, design, construction documents and detailing using Revit, and specifications.
- Develops project visualization through materials boards, inspiration imagery, sketches, and renderings.
- Assists with construction administration tasks such as addressing RFIs and reviewing shop drawings for interior aspects of the project.
- Participates in client meetings with the Lead Designer and/or Project Manager, supports with preparation and follow up as needed.
- Researching design solutions and industry best practices.
- Meeting with product representatives and maintaining the resource library.
- Coordination with all disciplines of design including our in-house engineers, designers, renderers as well as outside consultants as it relates to interior design.
- Assist in mentoring staff on technical details for the interior portions of the project.
- Helps maintain company standards and contributes to the architectural / interiors detail library.
- Collaborates with other designers from our other offices on design solutions.
- Promotes GPD Design services, participates in presentations, proposals, and submittals with the business development and marketing team.
- Assists as a member of the design team as needed, including but not limited to administrative help, construction administration support beyond interior finishes, and architectural documentation and specifications assistance as needed.
