About the Role

Elite Floor Coverings, Inc is seeking a talented and detail‑oriented Interior Designer to join our team. We are a high-volume, warehouse-style flooring operation serving homeowners, builders, and contractors across Western Washington. In this role, you’ll guide clients through design selections, recommend solutions based on aesthetics and functionality, and support projects from concept to installation. You’ll collaborate closely with our sales and design teams to deliver beautiful, high-quality results that bring our clients’ visions to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Consult with clients to understand design goals, style preferences, and project needs
• Create design concepts with a strong focus on flooring materials, finishes, color palettes, and layout
• Recommend products such as counter tops, hardwood, tile, carpet, luxury vinyl, laminate, and specialty flooring
• Prepare floor plans, color boards, sample presentations, and digital renderings
• Assist clients as needed in selecting complementary design elements (baseboards, transitions, wall color, etc.)
• Communicate design intent to installers, contractors, and project managers
• Manage project timelines, documentation, and follow-up with clients
• Stay up‑to‑date with flooring trends, innovations, and vendor products
• Maintain a visually appealing and organized showroom space
• Prepare accurate work orders for each project

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field (preferred)
• 2+ years of experience in interior design or flooring sales
• Strong knowledge of flooring materials, installation methods, and design standards
• Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office Programs
• Excellent communication, presentation, and customer service skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Strong sense of style, color, and material coordination

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with builders, contractors, or design-build firms
• Familiarity with reading blueprints and construction documents
• Knowledge of ADA requirements, product durability ratings, and space‑specific flooring considerations
• Sales experience within flooring, interior design, or home finishes is a plus
• Residential construction knowledge
• High attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, adaptable and relatable style to a diverse mix of customer types
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure and prioritize tasks
