MPA is an Architecture, Interiors and Urban design firm in Detroit, MI that delivers design services for residential and commercial clients. The firm aims to be the most relevant partner to the people and communities we serve through inclusive design and engagement.

JOB SUMMARY

Evaluates, selects, and performs in a self-directed manner in all aspects of the interior design process, including preparation of presentation materials, schematic design, design development, contract documents, renderings and construction administration activities within an established budget, schedule, site, and programmatic requirements.

EDUCATION

- Bachelor/ Master’s Degree from an accredited Interior Design/Architecture program

- Degrees must come from an accredited Interior Design program or NAAB-accredited Architecture program

EXPERIENCE

- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in broader range of hospitality, residential and commercial Interior Design

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES

- Performs assignments with instructions as to the general results expected from Managers

- Under minimal supervision and guidelines, tackles design and technical challenges within large projects

- Ensures daily tasks are completed and helps to supervise Junior Designers/ Interns

- Develops design solutions in a broader context through collaborative efforts involving outside consultants

- Displays interest in developing preliminary client interaction and seeks to develop industry relationships

- Implements design into Revit format and presentation materials

- Assists in coordination efforts required to produce a set of Construction Documents and FF&E Specifications; namely the research, communication and documentation required to execute the project effectively

-Has an existing network of relationships with industry reps and shows the ability and interest in developing and expanding that network

- Is familiar and efficient at the purchasing process

DESIGN

- Possesses a strong understanding of design principles and theory

- Interested in all areas of design including interior design, interior architecture, furniture design, accessorizing, and graphic design

- Displays creative interior design skills including concept development, hand sketching, and selection of colors, materials, finishes, and furniture

- Experience with the design process, including design documentation, FF&E specifications, color, and materials

- Advanced understanding of color, materials, and finishes

TECHNICAL

- Modestly experienced in interior architectural development, construction detailing, and finish selection

- Experience in furniture design and specification writing

- Superior skills in Adobe Photoshop, and InDesign

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook

- Knowledge of Revit, Lumion, and Enscape

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent space planning, programming, and Interior Design skills
  • Experience in creating Construction Documents
  • Ability in FF&E selection, procurement, and purchasing.
  • Ability to collaborate with architects, contractors, consultants and clients.
  • Strong design sense, attention to detail and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in drawing and rendering programs, Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office
  • Passion for creativity, design, architecture and continuous improvement and learning
