Emerson Grace Design (EGD), a Lafayette-based full-service interior design firm, is seeking an Interior Designer with at least 5 years experience in residential design. This is an in-office position, Monday - Thursday, 9-5.
The ideal candidate is looking to advance their experience and knowledge and can balance multiple projects and deadlines. Incredibly strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both with clients and partners. Must have the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. We are a small design firm so the ability and willingness to pitch in where needed is essential.
EGD is known for creating timeless, artful interiors for busy homeowners and we are looking for someone who has a strong work ethic and enjoys the work they do but likes to have fun too.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Principal and Interior Designers to develop design concepts and execute projects from concept to completion
- Conduct site visits and correctly measure and scan interior spaces
- Create Client Budgets
- Prepare accurate detailed drawings including floor plans, elevations, renderings (using Chief Architect and SketchUp), and specifications
- Source and coordinate materials for client projects that align with the design intent and budget of the project
- Create mood boards and design presentations
- Manage client communication, vendor communication, project timelines and budgets
- Create client Proposals
- Conduct site visits and oversee installations to ensure design intent is met
- Attend client meetings and manage client communications
- Coordinate and communicate with architects, contractors, vendors and artisans throughout the life of projects
- Attention to detail to maintain organized records regarding communication, budget and project plans
- Occasionally waiting on walk-in customers and doing some marketing responsibilities as assigned by the Principal
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree
- 5 years experience working in high-end residential design in a full-service interior design firm - THIS IS A MUST HAVE
- Strong proficiency in Chief Architect preferred, but can be proficient in AutoCAD or Revit - THIS IS A MUST HAVE
- Experience managing residential projects from inception to installation and experienced to know steps necessary to move the project along
- Strong knowledge of design principles, space planning, color theory and materials
- Proficient in Studio Designer, SketchUp, Basecamp, canvas, Canva and Google Suite
- High level of attention to detail
- Excellent organization and project management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience communicating with team member, clients, vendors, contractors and partners to advance projects and get results
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Extensive knowledge of furniture, finishes, fabrics and materials with a discerning eye for detail and design
- A "can do" attitude and the ability to prioritize goals and follow through on those goals to completion
- Automobile and California Drivers License required
