Loews Coral Gables Hotel features 242 guestrooms, including 23 beautifully designed suites, 30,0000 square feet of indoor/outdoor flexible meeting space, an expansive 9th floor pool deck, four Miami-inspired dining outlets and more.

Located just four blocks from the Gables' iconic Miracle Mile, the hotel is the centerpiece of The Plaza Coral Gables, a 2.1 million square foot mixed-use development showcasing retail space, dining and entertainment experiences.

Loews Coral Gables Hotel is the second Loews Hotel to open in South Florida, joining 25 other properties across the US and Canada that make up the Loews Hotels & Co portfolio.

Meetings & Events Internship Program

Internship students will have the opportunity to experience our culture of creating enriching experiences at Loews Hotels & Co. The Meetings and Events department is built on the foundation of collaboration, connection and creativity. Meetings & Events collaborates with every department within a hotel to deliver memorable events for clients and their guests. This program provides an immersive experience of all aspects of the Meetings & Events discipline. From office administrative support and operational support of active events, to catering sales and event management, along with exposure to key partner departments within the hotel operation, Meetings & Events interns will gain valuable experience for embarking on their hospitality careers.

What Will You Learn?

Experience working with:

  • Meetings & Events
  • Group Sales and Revenue Management
  • Event & Outlet Operations (Banquets, Culinary, and Food & Beverage)
  • Rooms Operations (Front Office, Housekeeping)

Learning plans include:

  • Fundamental discipline core competencies such as interfacing with clients, interpreting client event needs, building banquet event orders, creating diagrams, completing event resumes, supporting onsite event execution, and post-event close out based on current experience level
  • Department structure and roles within Meetings & Events discipline
  • Banquet and custom menu knowledge
  • Meetings & Events Systems Training (Delphi, Evention, Social Tables, Opera)
  • Discipline standards, guidelines, and reporting
  • Hospitality fundamentals and client engagement best practices
  • Loews branded program knowledge
  • Value-added internship experiences include immersion in Loews culture by experiencing our organizational programs focused on Team Member Engagement, DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion), and Learning & Development

Mentors Will Provide:

  • Constructive professional feedback and support during your experience
  • Exposure to day-to-day operations at various levels within the organization
  • Discipline expertise and career insights
  • Regularly cadenced meetings to review intern's weekly reflections, learning plan, and progress within the program

What You Bring:

  • Students must be currently enrolled in an accredited, US-based college or university, and be in good academic standing, in order to apply for an internship.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic and eagerness to learn
  • Desire and ability to work with others collaboratively
  • Excellent communication skills - both oral and written
  • Exceptional guest service skills
  • Effective organizational skills with a focus on details, quality, and consistency
  • Ability to work flexible schedule to include some weekends and holidays
