The Team

At Alvarez & Marsal, our Financial Services Industry (FSI) team works at the heart of global finance, advising leading banks, insurers, asset managers, FinTechs, and private equity firms. With expertise in M&A, Performance Improvement, Credit & Real Estate Advisory, Restructuring, and Regulatory Advisory, we help clients drive growth, navigate change, and solve their most complex challenges. Based across major financial hubs in London, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Frankfurt, and Dubai, our international team combines global perspective with local expertise. As an intern, you'll gain hands-on experience working alongside our M&A Financial Institutions Group (FIG), supporting transformative transactions and strategic projects across the EMEA region.

How you will contribute

We are looking for an Intern to join A&M's M&A FIG team and support its growth in the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (META). This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience in investment banking-style advisory within a dynamic, fast-growing practice. You will work on challenging and high-profile M&A transactions across META, with a particular focus on financial institutions.

As an intern, you will be exposed to live projects and have the chance to develop core skills in financial analysis, valuation, and strategic advisory, while working alongside industry experts and senior professionals. This role is designed for motivated students or recent graduates with a strong interest in finance and M&A who want to gain practical experience in a highly professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support financial and strategic analyses of companies and sectors within the financial services industry.
  • Assist in preparing marketing materials, pitch presentations, and transaction documents.
  • Participate in research and data gathering to support due diligence efforts.
  • Contribute to valuation exercises and learn financial modelling techniques.
  • Collaborate with team members across different offices and gain insight into deal execution processes.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Hold a valid UAE residency, under family or university sponsorship as we are unable to provide UAE residency visas for interns
  • Currently enrolled at university (minimum second year), from an accredited top-tier university in business, economics, sciences or a similar discipline is essential
  • Strong interest in finance, M&A, and the financial services industry
  • Good knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with financial modelling is a plus but not required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Fluency in English is essential
  • Prior internship(s) in an M&A or finance role is a plus but not required
