Internal Audit Student Assistant UN

Position Summary

Perform internal performance audits, special studies, reviews, and evaluations of the financial and operational systems of city departments and contractors; assist in the preparation of findings and recommendations to improve operations and address weaknesses in internal controls.

Note: This is a part time temporary position with an hourly pay rate of $15.00 per hour.

This is an unclassified at-will position.

Essential and Supplemental Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below)

Assist with performance audits of City operations, programs, processes and contracts in compliance with Government Auditing Standards.

Research relevant criteria and best practices as they relate to City operations under audit.

Perform data analysis using computer assisted audit tools.

Assist with developing recommendations for opportunities for improvement and to address weaknesses in internal controls.

Assist in preparation of written technical reports on audits and other projects performed

Assist with non-audit services to add value to the City.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Student currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational program whose primary course of study is Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Working Conditions

Environmental:
Office environment; exposure to computers.

Physical:
Essential functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for prolonged periods of sitting, walking or standing.
