Internal Audit Student Assistant UN

Position Summary

Perform internal performance audits, special studies, reviews, and evaluations of the financial and operational systems of city departments and contractors; assist in the preparation of findings and recommendations to improve operations and address weaknesses in internal controls.

Note: This is a part time temporary position with an hourly pay rate of $15.00 per hour.

This is an unclassified at-will position.

Essential and Supplemental Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below)

  • Assist with performance audits of City operations, programs, processes and contracts in compliance with Government Auditing Standards.
  • Research relevant criteria and best practices as they relate to City operations under audit.
  • Perform data analysis using computer assisted audit tools.
  • Assist with developing recommendations for opportunities for improvement and to address weaknesses in internal controls.
  • Assist in preparation of written technical reports on audits and other projects performed
  • Assist with non-audit services to add value to the City.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Student currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational program whose primary course of study is Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.


Working Conditions

Environmental:
Office environment; exposure to computers.

Physical:
Essential functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for prolonged periods of sitting, walking or standing.
