Internal Communications

Reporting to the Director of Public Relations, the Internal Communications Coordinator plays a vital role in delivering clear, engaging, and effective communications to hospital staff and providers. The position supports key management plan goals, including employee engagement, recognition, and retention.

This role is highly integrated into the daily operations of the hospital and ambulatory sites and requires regular presence in clinical and non-clinical areas to gather stories, support employee events, and ensure communications reflect the Highland experience.

By building relationships with staff and providers, the internal communications coordinator seeks and develops inspiring, compelling stories that can be shared in a variety of internal communications, as well as support our social media and media relations programs.

The role provides tactical support to the overall strategy of the Public Relations Department. They work closely with other members of the team to gather and produce visual content that can be shared across multiple channels. They will create relevant and timely employee-focused articles that keep employees well informed about hospital events, news, key initiatives, and events as well as individual, team, and hospital achievements.

By contributing creative ideas and implementing effective communications, this member of the Public Relations team will also be an essential member of several event planning teams, including events led by Employee Experience, Nursing Councils, Quality & Safety, among others.

Salary Range:
$25.96- $36.55 an hour

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations preferred.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience in communications or public relations. Healthcare or non-profit experience preferred.
  • Strong writing skills, with experience using Associated Press guidelines.
  • License/Certification Required: N/A
  • Skills: Strong speaking, writing, proofreading, project management skills.
  • Skills:
    • Intermediate photography, videography, and editing skills.
    • Intermediate graphic design skills.
    • Knowledge of content creation tools such as Kapwing, Canva, Adobe, SharePoint, InDesign and Photoshop is helpful.
