Maine International Trade Center
is seeking an
International Trade Specialist
to be based in their Portland, Maine office.
Requirements of the International Trade Specialist:

Bachelor’s degree required.
-
1-2 years’ work-related experience, preferably in an entrepreneurial setting.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required; experience working with a CRM preferred.

Fundamental understanding of the differing needs of Maine’s rural and urban communities.

Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, including the ability to tailor communication methods to the audience.

Strong customer focus skills, including the ability to understand business owners’ needs and recommend resources and tools in a clear and efficient manner.

Strong interpersonal skills with an open, welcoming approach that ensures members and colleagues feel heard and supported.

Valid driver’s license.

Ability to work onsite in Portland, ME (Monday–Friday), occasional after-hours MITC events, 10–15% in-state travel, and international travel as needed.
Benefits of the Job:

Annual pay in the range of: $54,000-$57,000 commensurate with experience

Responsibilities of the International Trade Specialist:
-
Serve as an ‘account manager’ to meet the needs of MITC members and Maine businesses looking to do business internationally.

Provide export counseling and research tailored to client’s unique business needs in coordination with other staff and external resources.

Develop and recommend resources, programs, and tools to support success; includes grant promotion and counseling.

Identify and connect with businesses, entrepreneurs, and organizations statewide to support and promote international business opportunities.

Promote the work of MITC and the various programs, tools, and resources available to Maine businesses looking to do business internationally.

Expand MITC’s impact and capabilities by seeking out strategic partnerships with businesses, associations, and governmental organizations.

Coordinate and attend trade shows, trade delegations, and educational programming in support of Maine businesses seeking to grow internationally.

Assist with the development and presentation of MITC workshops and programs.

Support incoming trade delegations and other governmental delegations and associations seeking to work with MITC.

Attend MITC events, which may entail after hours special events.

Travel as required within Maine (around 10%-15%), and, occasionally, internationally as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.
