Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management & Control:
- Monitor and manage optimal stock levels to prevent overstocking, stock outs, and obsolescence.
- Oversee the accurate receipt, storage, and distribution/issuance of inventory items.
- Implement and manage effective inventory control procedures.
- Inventory Tracking & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed and up-to-date records of all inventory transactions (purchases, returns, adjustments)
- Utilize inventory management software/ERP systems to track stock movement, quantities, quality, and location.
- Generate and submit regular inventory reports (e.g., daily stock balance, consumption reports, stock variance) to management.
- Physical Audits and Reconciliation:
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts (e.g., cycle counts, quarterly or annual stock takes).
- Perform inventory reconciliation to ensure physical counts match recorded system levels.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in inventory counts and records.
- Procurement and Vendor Relations (often in collaboration with a Procurement/Finance team):
- Assist in calculating and forecasting future stock needs and reorder levels.
- Liaise with vendors and suppliers regarding inventory procurement, deliveries, and supply chain issues.
- Process and track purchase orders for inventory replenishment.
- Cost Management and Compliance:
- Monitor and assist in controlling inventory costs (e.g., Cost of Goods Sold - COGS).
- Support the finance/accounting department with inventory valuation (e.g., FIFO, LIFO).
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, safety standards, and inventory accounting regulations.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree or HND in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience: Proven experience (typically 2+ years) working in an inventory control, stock management, or warehouse environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Inventory Management Software (ERP systems).
- Strong competence in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with inventory best practices (e.g., cycle counting, reorder points, ABC analysis)
