Inventory Control Manager - SYGMA

JOB SUMMARY

Controls and monitors freight and inventory processes using the most cost-effective methods to reduce inventory losses.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides for monitoring and inspection of produce at the dock to ensure quality standards are met and quantity is correct

  • Oversees and makes all receiving and inventory adjustments to assure correctness and entry into the mainframe

  • Responsible for reporting daily physical cycle counts on frozen, cooler, and dry products

  • Oversees the slotting and assigning of all new items in the warehouse, ensuring the correctness of the information in the mainframe and that warehouse slots are labeled correctly

  • Keeps VP/GM and Warehouse Management informed, as needed, of potential problems and changes

  • Oversees and performs research regarding inventory losses, and implements solutions

  • Oversees the processes involved when potential “outs” are discovered

  • Manages and produces inventory and warehouse reports daily

  • Manages and directs all physical inventories as called for under SYGMA guidelines and directives

  • Works closely with all departments regarding merchandise received, new items, all inventories, to assure a continuous flow of information

  • Oversees and is responsible for the cycle count program

  • Oversees and is responsible for adherence to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) Guidelines

  • Other duties as assigned by Management


QUALIFICATIONS

Education
High school diploma/GED

Experience

  • 5 years of inventory control experience in food distribution

  • Prefer 4-year college degree in a related discipline and 1-year experience on IBM AS400


Physical Demands

  • Work is light to medium in nature with frequent walking to perform assigned tasks.

  • You must be able to communicate clearly with shippers and employees.

  • Physical inventories involve periods of prolonged standing.


Mental/Visual Demands

  • You must be able to read text that is close and at a distance with or without correction.

  • In addition, you must be able to perform manual tasks, hear, sit, reach, lift, bend, and interact with others.


Working Condition

  • Activities occur both inside (protected from weather conditions but not temperature changes) and outside

  • Employee is subjected to extreme cold while supervising in the freezer

  • Hazardous conditions may exist, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current and working in high places

Equipment Operated
A calculator, copier, fax, PC, Microsoft Office applications, telephone and mainframe printer are typical equipment used in this position. You may also be required to operate a pallet jack and forklift.

License or Certifications
Warehouse equipment and possibly forklift. ISO certification or involvement preferred.
