Position Summary

The Manager, Investigations will be responsible for all STERIS ethics cases globally, including intake, tracking, review, assignment, coordination, and preparation or collection of the investigative report. They will oversee and coordinate all aspects of the monthly reporting for the Ethics Committee and the quarterly reporting for the Board of Directors meetings. They will participate as an investigator regarding investigations related to fraud, financial, inventory theft, conflicts of interest, I&T, and certain Human Resources investigations. They will research, implement and train all investigators on a new ethics case reporting system.

What You'll do as an Investigations Manager

• Lead and conduct investigations related to financial, fraud, conflict of interest, expense report fraud, inventory theft investigation. Coordinate and oversee HR, Quality, and HSE investigations.
• Receive and review all new ethics cases and assign them to the appropriate investigator (Compliance, Audit, Quality, HSE or Human Resources).
• Distribute monthly reminders requesting final investigation reports and updates and prepare a summary of all open cases and cases recommended for closing or passing along to the Ethics Committee.
• Review final investigation reports to determine that the conclusion supports the evidence collected and return to investigators if there are unsupported conclusions.
• Prepare a quarterly report for presentation to the full Board of Directors and the separate Board Committees (CODC – Human Resources, Compliance and Technology, and Audit Committees).
• Maintain confidential files of all investigations including the ethics complaint, interviews, supporting documentation and investigation report.
• Interview witnesses and reporters regarding the claims made in the ethics complaint and document the responses.
• Write final investigation reports for assigned cases.
• Train new investigators in proper investigation techniques and review their documentation. Train others involved in investigations as needed on proper investigation methods.
• Maintain the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation by obtaining the necessary continuing professional education credits.
• Direct the Internal Audit data analytics team to prepare trending analysis of ethics cases for presentation to management and the Board of Directors.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Audit, HR, HSE, and Quality teams to assign and oversee investigation matters.
• Review, revise, and implement company-wide Code of Conduct and ethics awareness training programs in conjunction with the compliance training department.
• Evaluate the end-to-end investigation process to identify areas where processes can be more efficient and effective, ownership is clearly defined, and where automation may be beneficial.

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Professional Certification, Must be Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
• 7+ years of professional experience in ethics, compliance, audit, or fraud investigation roles.
• Direct experience in investigations should include:
  • Leading complex investigations (e.g., fraud, conflicts of interest, theft)
  • Reviewing and validating evidence-based conclusions in investigation reports
  • Interviewing witnesses and documenting findings
  • Proven ability to maintain secure files and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Some travel (domestic & international) required.

Preferred:

• Additional certifications strongly preferred:
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) (for technology-related investigations
• Experience preparing and presenting reports to senior leadership, Board of Directors, and specialized committees (Audit, Compliance, HR) preferred.
• Experience with training others on investigation best practices.
