Job Purpose

The IP Portfolio Manager is responsible for the end-to-end legal and strategic management of clients' intellectual property assets. This role focuses on providing high-level legal consultations, drafting specialized appeals and oppositions, and ensuring that IP strategies are aligned with clients' commercial goals both in Saudi Arabia and globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Management & Oversight: Oversee the comprehensive management of clients' IP portfolios, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and designs, ensuring all assets are legally sound and strategically positioned.
  • Strategic Optimization: Develop and implement strategies for portfolio growth and maintenance to maximize the commercial value of clients' IP assets.
  • Legal Drafting & Prosecution: Expertly craft legal memos, appeals, and formal oppositions against office actions. Work closely with legal and technical teams on IP prosecution, enforcement, and litigation matters.
  • IP Audits & Gap Analysis: Conduct thorough IP audits and gap analyses to identify vulnerabilities and opportunities for new protections within the client's business model.
  • Consultancy & Client Alignment: Collaborate directly with clients to understand their business objectives and provide expert legal advice to align IP strategies accordingly.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure timely filing, renewals, and maintenance of IP rights in strict compliance with Saudi local regulations and relevant international laws.
  • Risk Management: Monitor potential infringements and provide preliminary legal assessments to protect the client's market position.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in law (LL.B.) is mandatory.
  • Preferred Qualification: A Higher Diploma in Intellectual Property highly preferred.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of professional experience in IP legal operations, portfolio management, or legal drafting.
  • Language: Professional fluency in both Arabic (for local litigation and drafting) and English (for international communication and legal review).
  • Skills: * Strong ability to analyze legal texts and build persuasive arguments.
  • Deep knowledge of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) regulations and procedures.

Excellence in managing legal deadlines and procedural timelines.
