Job Description:

The person in this IT Applications Support position will do a variety of technical tasks daily to support the IS&T N-FOCUS Business and Technical Teams, N-FOCUS production support, DHHS field workers, and N-FOCUS trainers. This person will be responsible for routine tasks as well as have the responsibility of monitoring and responding to daily requests that are submitted, they will have the opportunity to talk to a variety of people while helping provide technical support. This position is on a large-scale software application team comprised of multiple technical teams in support of critical line-of-business systems, serving the citizens of the State of Nebraska.

This is listed statewide, as we may consider placement in other DHHS office locations across Nebraska for the right candidate; however, the Nebraska State Office Building in Lincoln is highly preferred.

Examples of Work

  • Assist Batch development Team in setting up batch run request for the test environments.
  • Execute Batch Job requests in the testing environments as instructed, monitor output, and provide Business Analyst with results.
  • Routinely complete steps to maintain a series of Test IDs.
  • Run SQL queries that are submitted on Data Base request tickets. Format and provide requestor with the report generated by the SQL query or results of the SQL query.
  • Create and maintain the Major and Interim Release calendars
  • Review and update document with Batch Jobs that are ran in the test environment.
  • Using set processes prepare the test databases and run the batch processing schedule for quarterly Major Releases.
  • Run conversion jobs and other set processes to help maintain the test environment databases.
  • As trainers submit request to reserve Training Databases, work with the trainers to assist in running set processes to restore and load the data into the training database for their training class.
  • Respond to Service Portal production support tickets that will involve a variety of troubleshooting opportunities. There will be resetting of case files which has a set of routine steps predefined to complete the reset. There will also be support tickets that will involve research and trouble shooting to help the customer resolve their technical issues to get up and running. This person will learn which technical team members to work with when needing to trouble shoot a problem and will act as a mediator to keep customer informed on status of issue/resolution.
  • Maintain list of Printers for all designated DHHS work sites.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience, education, or training in coding computer applications; programming experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those candidates possessing experience using the following: Mainframe TSO/ISPF, JCL, DB2, SQL, COBOL Compiler, CCF/MMF, ISPW, Citrix, VPN, Bomgar, RACF, Microsoft (MS) Sharepoint, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, and Service Portal ticketing system.
