IT Business Analyst

Position Summary

The IT Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing business processes within a manufacturing environment, with a primary focus on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. This role serves as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure system solutions align with operational needs, improve efficiency, and support strategic goals. The IT Business Analyst plays a key role in ERP configuration, reporting, integrations, and continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and operations.

Essential Functions

  • Acts as the primary Business Central functional expert for manufacturing-related processes.
  • Gathers, documents, and analyzes business requirements from manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and operations teams.
  • Translates business requirements into functional specifications for configuration, development, and integrations.
  • Configures and supports Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central modules including manufacturing, inventory, production planning, purchasing, and finance.
  • Collaborates with developers, vendors, and internal IT staff on system enhancements, upgrades, and issue resolution.
  • Supports ERP integrations with third-party manufacturing, shipping, reporting, and automation systems.
  • Develops and maintains process documentation, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
  • Assists with system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and deployment activities.
  • Provides user training, documentation, and post-implementation support.
  • Analyzes data and creates reports and dashboards to support operational and management decision-making.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement, automation, and system optimization.
  • Ensures system changes follow best practices for security, controls, and data integrity.
  • Supports ERP upgrade planning and execution.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong functional knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Experience supporting ERP systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as BOMs, routings, MRP, production orders, and inventory management
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting processes within an ERP system
  • Ability to analyze complex business processes and translate them into system solutions
  • Experience with ERP reporting, data analysis, and Excel
  • Familiarity with integrations, APIs, and third-party add-ons
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across departments
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience as a Business Analyst or ERP Analyst preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or Dynamics NAV required.
  • Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The work environment is primarily an office setting with moderate noise levels, with occasional exposure to manufacturing or warehouse environments.

Pay: $87,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
