NovaTech Automation is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented IT Engineer to join our team. In this hands-on role, you'll keep our systems and networks running smoothly across multiple locations — supporting the people and infrastructure that power our work in the electric power industry.
What You'll Do
Cisco Networking
-
Configure, deploy, and maintain Cisco network switches in line with our security and organizational standards

Monitor network performance and proactively resolve issues to minimize downtime

Manage network segmentation, VLANs, and access control lists (ACLs)
-
Perform firmware upgrades, patch management, and configuration backups for network devices
-
Work with operations and engineering teams to support network connectivity for critical infrastructure systems
Help Desk Support – Hardware & Software

Serve as a primary point of contact for end-user hardware and software support, troubleshooting and resolving issues in a timely manner

Install, configure, and maintain workstations, laptops, peripherals, and software
-
Manage software licensing, application deployment, and updates
-
Maintain accurate records in the IT ticketing system, including support tickets, asset inventory, and resolution documentation

Provide on-site technical assistance and coordinate with vendors for repairs or replacements as needed
Linux Environment Support for Engineering

Provide technical support to engineering teams working in Linux-based environments, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting

Manage user accounts, permissions, and file systems on Linux servers and workstations
-
Support engineering-specific tools and workflows running on Linux platforms

Perform system monitoring, log analysis, and performance tuning

Assist with scripting and automation to improve operational efficiency
IT Security

Monitor systems and networks for security threats, anomalies, and vulnerabilities

Implement and enforce IT security policies, including endpoint protection, patch management, access controls, and password standards

Conduct periodic security assessments and vulnerability scans, and coordinate remediation efforts

Support compliance requirements for critical infrastructure environments

Help promote security awareness and provide guidance to end users on safe computing practices
What You Bring
-
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field — Required

3+ years of experience in IT support or systems administration, with a background in networking and end-user support — Required

Hands-on experience configuring and maintaining Cisco network equipment — Required

Familiarity with IT security concepts, tools, and best practices in an enterprise or industrial environment — Required

Experience with Hyper-V and Microsoft Active Directory — Required

Experience supporting Linux-based environments, including command-line administration — Preferred

Experience in a utility, energy, or critical infrastructure environment — Preferred

Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent — Preferred

CompTIA Security+ or equivalent IT security certification — Preferred
