IT Infrastructure Specialist

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support and advise the IT Director on networks, firewalls, servers, and desktops.
  • Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining IT systems across multiple sites.
  • Review and validate work performed by IT staff; guide and mentor them on projects.
  • Coordinate project-based vendor activities and ensure compliance with updates and security.
  • Troubleshoot escalated technical issues and provide practical, lasting solutions.
  • Capture knowledge and track projects to ensure lessons learned are retained and applied.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years of broad IT experience across networking, servers, firewalls, software, and desktop systems
  • Strong generalist background including Windows/Server environments, networking (Cisco, Meraki, Ubiquiti), firewalls (SonicWall, Palo Alto, FortiGate, etc.), Microsoft 365/Azure AD, VMware/Hyper-V, endpoint management, and basic scripting/automation
  • Proven ability to coordinate projects, mentor team members, and provide technical oversight
  • Trusted partner mindset with the ability to handle confidential information, communicate openly, and take full ownership of responsibilities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to keep teams aligned and informed

Education and Experience:

Equivalent combination of hands-on experience and technical knowledge preferred; results and real-world impact are valued over formal degrees or certifications

Physical Demands

This role involves extended periods of computer-based work, including sitting, typing, and repetitive hand movements. Occasional hands-on tasks are required, such as lifting up to 50 lbs., installing or racking equipment, and running cabling. Clear and effective verbal communication with vendors and team members is essential to success in this role.

Work Environment
This position is primarily based on-site across Boise-area locations, with flexibility for remote work as needed. The role participates in a shared on-call rotation with the IT Director. Reliable transportation is required to support travel between locations.
